A Missouri Denny's restaurant is serving controversy along with its Grand Slamwich breakfasts. On Tuesday, the manager of its Belleville location told a group of "on-duty but out-of-uniform" officers that they couldn't eat in the restaurant if they were wearing their guns. The detectives showed their badges and explained that they were protecting and serving, even while sitting in a vinyl booth. The staffers again said that they'd need to lock their weapons in their cars; the cops chose to leave instead. Now Belleville's police chief has banned all officers from eating at Denny's, despite an apology from the chain. "It's … a slap in the face," Capt. Don Sax said. [http://fox2now.com/2013/01/02/belle...om-dennys/

Got a feeling this might be a little bad for business through out the chain.

It's against most police departments policies to not have their weapon in their possession. This particular Denny's location is either owned by a militant liberal, or the entire company has gone berserk! I used to eat at Denny's when I lived in Florida, but since there aren't any nearby, I haven't been in one in at least 10 years, and if provided an opportunity, wouldn't consider going into one again.

Matter has been resolved.  This was not a corporate decision, but an individual manager's.  Corporate offices contacted the police and said they most certainly can wear their side arms.  Now...........as for that manager; he'd be the first one wishing they had their weapons with them if someone came in to rob the place while the cops were there.

I wonder if that police captain would think it was "a slap in the face" if that manager had done the same thing to a legally armed citizen?

FYI........This happened in Belleville, Illinois, and as WL said it was just the stupidity of a lowly floor manager and not anything to do with the corporate Denny's. As of our local newspaper it has been all resolved and the police chief is allowing the cops to use the restaurant again. Sometimes you just can't fix "STUPID". LOL

If I remember correctly the last Denny's I was in was either in Battle Creek, Michigan or Orlando, Fla, and they had one of those symbols on the door of a handgun in a circle with a slash through it.

Good place for all the biggers to go and hold up. Even the cops are not carrying. That's what this country is looking at in the future.

Head this on the radio yesterday. Couldn't believe it.

In a news cast tonight it was all started because another person in the restaurant had complained about the cops carrying open .We use to be able to carry open here until some people complained about it in a restaurant down south . It was the same group that went there once a month after their shoots .Then one person complained .And then we had a law 2 months later stopping it .One complaint is all it takes .
