Before I had to change to xbow I tried most of them. I found out IF you make a good shot you will get them and they didn't know what broad head you used.

a rage does not penatrate as well as most fixed

Tell that to the buck I shot this season.  The rage went through both shoulder blades, broke two ribs and punched the top of the lungs on the way through. Didn't pass through, but not many fixed will take that hit and pass through either.  That was the new 2.3 inch extreme also. Leaves one huge hole. The damage gets done, that's what matters with a broadhead.

i dont dispute the damage they do. heck ray charles could follow the blood trail the rage produces but penatration is not their strong point i have used rage since they came out killed many bucks and lost a couple too because they didnt open in the cold weather, lesson learned .

I used Rage one season hit three deer , Not one pass through. I even thought the first pack I had were defective after two deer lost (Both shot at less than 15 yards")Rage did leave good blood trails but where I hunt if the get to an area about 150 yards from me they are tough to track due to the terrain and flora. I then switched to Slick trick 4 blade fixed Shot a doe the first week to recover my confidence and was amazed. I then took the biggest buck of my life that December haven't looked back. When it get's real cold here I tend to use my crossbow because of all the clothes I wear it makes it tough to use my bow. When I use my crossbow I use NAP spitfire's 125 grain. Hve had good luck with the spitfire's as has my wife

I believe you are confusing penetration with pass through. I just showed you the penetration you can get with them.  Penetration is a strong point due to the damage they cause.  Now if you are shooting a low poundage bow, you will run into problems.  I wouldn't advise anyone using less than 70 Ibs with a rage broadhead, they need the KE to do the job.
Regardless, shot placement is crucial, if you get a bad hit with any broadhead, chances are you will lose the deer.

i shoot 70 pounds ,please explain the more penatration the better chance of pass through correct or am i missing something, how big was the buck you shot, a year and a half dont have much resistance like a five year old will, imo no way can a rage go through bone better than a fixed

I never said the more penetration the better chance of pass through? Pass through isn't always best? I know it leaves two holes for a possible better blood trail, but if it's a marginal hit, it won't matter if it passes through or not. A good hit with a rage will do devestating damage without pass through, and get the job done, hense, good penetration with a great blood trail. I never argued a rage will go through bone better than fixed, what made you think that? I know, your opinion, but I think, you think too much. You must like them if you used them all these years? I also use Muzzy, can't let a good thing go I guess. Anyway, as I stated earlier, shot placement is crucial regardless of the broadhead being used.

there are a lot of good ones and some that are junk. for me i like a two or 3 blade fixed that I can sharpen and shave with. i would say it would be the one that you can sharpen the best.

I'm not shooting anything that you have to shoot a 70# bow with to get it to open correctly. I shoot G5 Tekans and have great luck with them at 55-60#. If shooting fixed blades I go with the NAP Thunderheads in 100 gr. ahve shot them for years and penetration has never been an issue. Shot placement is critical regardless of what broadhead you shoot. You also need to practice with the point you intend to hunt with. Have never seen the need to disoldge my old shoulders pullling 70#, the bows being made today are so fast that I see no need for the increased poundage. If you're still young, go ahead and shoot the manly heavy bows, if you are older or unable to pull that kind of weight, there are plenty of bows that will work. My first recurve hunting bow was 32#, and with proper shot placement and good sharp Bear broadheads had no problems killing deer. Just my opinion, but will go shoulder to shoulder in the field with the heavy weights anytime. Dead is dead, regardless of draw weight.
