About 75 lbs of knucklehead, shot at over 60 yards with a Beretta .12 gauge and 00 buck shot. Dropped it with one shot, most of the load hit right behind the shoulder and double lunged it. He did cap it with his .22 Taurus Tracker, to finish it off. |

He's 15, and has killed at least one deer every year since he was 10. His best one was a 190 lb 8 point two years ago. |

Got to admit though that I had to read the subject twice... ;-) Boy what a mistake! Huntin' for dogs and shootin' a deer?!? Da boy needs glasses! |

The Taurus Tracker is a great little revolver, but unless I'm mistaken, they have discontinued production. You probably can still get one from a dealer who has a few leftovers, which is how I got Travis'. One of my buddies who is an FFL dealer and gunsmith had this one left, and he made me a pretty good deal on it when I bought it back in the fall. Travis almost didn't get it, since I liked it so much. Of course since he won't be 16 'til the tenth of this month, it's technically mine anyhow. |

We have restrictions on pistols for big game hunting in NY and the .22 ain on the legal list. I would love a .22 for plinking and squirrels, the .45 is getting expensive. I used to have a Taurus 44 mag, what a cannon! |

I would'nt be using during deer season, though thank you for the heads up.I would just like to carry it the woods in the off season, the 357's and 44's I own are heavy.I just thought the 22 mag for a bit more bang then a 22lr. |

The reason Travis carries the Tracker is mainly for snakes, since it's loaded with 4 snake shot and 5 bullets. The secondary function is for use as he did with finishing off a deer that's basically dead and doesn't know it. |
