| "The BIG Lie"
The phrase was also used in a report prepared during the war by the United States Office of Strategic Services in describing Hitler's psychological profile:[5][6]
His primary rules were: never allow the public to cool off; never admit a fault or wrong; never concede that there may be some good in your enemy; never leave room for alternatives; never accept blame; concentrate on one enemy at a time and blame him for everything that goes wrong; people will believe a big lie sooner than a little one; and if you repeat it frequently enough people will sooner or later believe it.[7]

another dumbass posts a non news story? did you read all the additional stories? did you see where pauls father is for this? did you see where 81 senators are for it? maybe you missed this part?
UPDATE: 6:57 p.m. -- Brian Rogers, a McCain spokesman, denied Paul's accusation. Rogers said in an email:
"The plain language of this year’s defense authorization conference report does nothing remotely resembling what Senator Paul claims. The relevant section, entitled ‘Rights Unaffected,’ preserves not just the right to habeas corpus, but all constitutional rights enjoyed by every person before a court of the United States. To suggest that the chairmen and ranking members of the congressional defense authorization committees somehow stripped those rights is just wrong.”
thought we wanted the bad guys behind bars? especially those that are running with terrorists.

But top Senators in support of the bill dismissed Paul's charges as bogus, claiming that language in the NDAA preserves Americans' constitutional right to trial by jury. Only when they ally themselves with foreign terrorist powers, they said, do Americans abdicate their rights as citizens. I didn't read anything that stated who would make the determination and judgement about how those people would be identified. Did I miss that part, somehow????? |

The article I read, is where I copied the quote from. Nowhere in that article (the one that sw posted the link to), did it go into any detail about who would make the stated determination. I was simply wondering if you or anyone else had read any other articles that did provide that information. The way I interpreted it, any group or individual within the military or the Federal Government could decide that you or anyone else might be allied with a foreign terrorist power, in which case said individual would lose all habeus corpus rights, could be detained, and subsequently tried in a court without due representation and no jury of peers. See, I actually can and did read the entire acticle, thus my original question! And, yes, the story is incomplete and doesn't provide all of the details!!!!!! |
