I am looking to but one of these before the government puts another semi auto ban on our firearms.  First, does anyone own one, and if so how do you like it? (recommend or not) Also, can anyone recommend something better for around the same $500 price range? Thanks for you help.

I have the M&P 15/22, and love it. I have three of the 25 round magazines, a 50 power scope, laser, and flash light mounted on it, along with a full sling, thanks to the piccatinny sling accessory. I bought mine for $435.00 tax, tag, and drive out from a FFL dealer at a gun show in Ladson, SC. over a year ago. The Mossberg AR style .22 is pretty comparable, and the folks I know who have that one, also love them.

I bought a M&P 15 "combo" from Gander Mtn in 2011...came with the EOTech site...LOVE IT!!! I added vertical grip & tacitical sling, probably tweek it out some more, but liked it out of the box. I live in NY (no expandable stock/only 10 rd magazine), so the stock is "pinned" so it can't be extended/retracted, but I don't have a problem shooting it. Lot of fun shooting it. I'm "prior service" and retired law enforcement, not that means much, but was weaned on the Colt M-16 with iron sights. I reccomend it, you can't go wrong!!
