I received a package from the NAHC that I wasn't expecting . It contained a T-shirt , pair of cheap binos and a hunting knife . It contained a bill for $69.98 . I didn't order anything . I put the knife and binos back in the box and placed the return address label on the box . I am going to drop the package in the mailbox at the post office this am but I don't plan to put $10 worth of postage on the package for something I didn't order . I hope the NAHC isn't starting crap like they did with books several years ago . I don't want stuff that I don't order !

After receiving a package I didn't order I asked my postman what I needed to do to send it back. All you have to do is write return to sender and give it back to him, no additional postage is needed. |

I and others have posted numerous times about the fact that all you have to do is as bpearce stated ( I would also write "Refused" on the package). The biggest thing to remember, and this has also been posted repeatedly, is that you agreed for the club to do this, when you signed your membership agreement!!!!!!! Over the last year, I've received at least 6 cheap Chinese knives that I automatically returned in this manner, and have yet to have any problems from the club over any of them. I knew what was in the package, by going to my account on the site and seeing what had been charged to it. Usually, the charges are posted several days or even a week prior to receiving the package. |

I don't recall any agreement with the club to accept anything I didn't order . I never even looked at my account until I saw a slip with the charge . There was a return address label in the box which I put on the package and dropped the box in the post office . |

Your membership agreement had a clause in it that gave permission for the NAHC to send you products on a "try it and buy it" basis. With that clause, you also agreed to pay for any items that you didn't return. As has been pointed out numerous times on these forums, because of that clause, failure to pay for those products is theft, and the club has the right to seek legal recourse. That's why the simplest thing to do is contact the club and tell them not to ever send you anything ( and possibly miss out on something you would like to purchase), or just follow the advice and mark the package "refused, return to sender" and pop it right back in the mail. BTW, sometimes, the return address label isn't included and in that case you have to pay for the return postage, or just suck it up and pay the bill and keep the item, if you don't return the package, unopened.
Also, the books and the CDs are still out there, and depending on when someone joined the club, they may be getting them. Each year of membership and each level of membership dictates which items are sent under the "try it and buy it" program.

And they will start to bill you for it .It will show up on your account .Just wait for about two months and then give them a call if it does not go away .Thats what I had to do .They can get very slow to credit your account . |

Without exception, the items are billed prior to receiving them; and without exception every time I contact the club and explain that I returned the item, they have removed the charge from my account. They have commented that it will usually take about 6-8 weeks for them to get a return processed, but they still remove the charge immediately without waiting for the processing to occur. |

I was able to retrieve the package and had postage put on it ( 6.25 ) . I also had the USPS add a US Postal Service Delivery Confirmation Receipt so I should be all set . Thanks for the help . I also e-mailed the NAHC to "NOT" send me any more items . |

I received a reply to my e-mail and was told that if I wished they would change what is being shipped . If I agreed NAHC wold slow down the shipments to once a month . I will e-mail back that any future shipments will be refused . Considering the holiday and weekend , they returned a reply pretty quick .

I called NAHC to tell them to quit sending me item's numerous time's and each time they would tell me "We will stop sending, BUT another item has shipped from our wharehouse and you will have to send it back" This must have happened at least three time's. I work long hour's during most of the year and it's not alway's convienent for me to got to the post office. And why should I have to take my time to mail something back that I did'nt want or order. It finally stopped , you just need to stay with it . Have not gotten anyhting else from them. |

Question, do you pick up your mail at the post office? If so, how hard is it to mark "refused, return to sender" and drop it right back into the out of town depository in the post office? If your mail is delivered to your residence, how hard is it to again mark it and put it back in the outgoing mail? People complain about getting the "try it and buy it" items, but fail to accept the fact that was part of the membership agreement when they first signed up for the NAHC. Some of the items they've sent out over the years have actually been pretty nice. I have a LM backpack that is made by Mad Dog, and it's fantastic. I also wear a LM camo lightweight jacket that came with the pants, everyday ( I even wear the pants in the spring when I go turkey hunting). I have a really nice set of coveralls, also with the LM logo, along with the LM Heritage Knife Collection and the Silver coin collection...........all were try it an buy it items. The recent cheap knives, just get marked and dropped back in the mail, so I don't understand how it's a hassle. |

I purchased some gear that I wanted and also purchased book's,coins, and a calendar. The point is it is not always convienent to take it to the post office or try to cram it back into the mailbox. And if you do not order or ask for something you should not be liable if it get's back to the sender in the first place. And I'm glad it's not a problem for some of you but for the majority it seem's to be a hassle. |

So just tell them to stop?? I ended up putting it in writing but it is in the agreement when you join that you accept that. |

rkramer, I'm sorry, I don't understand. I open the mailbox, see a package from the NAHC, take a pen and mark it and put it right back in the mailbox and flip the flag up..........what's so inconvenient about that? Like many of us have pointed out over the years, each one of us agreed to this program upon signing up for membership. Didn't you actually read what you were signing up for?????? It's similar to the field test opportunity that was also in the membership agreement........you know the paragraph that stated that as a member you had the OPPORTUNITY to APPLY for field testing items, not a single word that guaranteed that YOU WILL ABSOLUTELY RECEIVE FREE FIELD TESTING PRODUCTS!!!!!!!!!!! As Steve and countless others, apparently including yourself, have done, just contact the club (maybe repeatedly will be required) and get them to cease and desist if you don't want to participate in the try it and buy it program. Evidently, more than a few of the over 850,000 members don't have a problem with it, or the company would have already eliminated the program due to the costs involved in shipping and paying for the return postage.........granted many of the items could be better quality, but then consider that the companies that provide the products are cutting the NAHC in on a portion of the profits and there are only so many companies willing to share the proceeds. |

Perhaps rthomas did not read my post on the 23rd. I have taken care of the problem. And I understand what I signed for just did'nt realize that agreeing to get things in the mail would be almost every single week. And when you send one back, like I did several time's I would get another the following week. It got old I took care of it and it's over. But I know I'm not alone here on this one. I glad for some people it was not a hassle but I sypathize with the one's who found it to be a problem. |
