So after Christmas, Bow season comes back in here in Western PA. Did I read some where that the Rut happens more than once? I'm new to Archery hunting, and took some time off to hunt again after Christmas. Any insight would be appreciated.

After he first rut those does that didn't get bred will come into estrous again about 28 days later as well as some of the yearling does. As for a 3rd, I'm not sure of. It would be possible for those yearlings that didn't breed their first time could come into estrous a second time 28 days later.

I have an exBIL who's fiancee got her first buck last weekend with a bow. A nice 8pt. and she shot it at 12:30 in the afternoon. This was the weekend following the end of our rifle season and most of the deer have seemed to have gone nocturnal.

Good luck with your hunt. There's is always a chance for a buck still wandering around in search of a late doe, or out feeding to recoop from the stress of the rut.

There may be a few does left to breed but those bucks are real hungry now so stay close to food sources for the best of both worlds.

Heck, in some places, here in the south, there is some form of rutting activity practically year round! Before you call BS on this....how else would you explain spotted fawns after Christmas?

According to Deer and Deer hunting Mag. tv show. A doe will continue to go into rut every 28 days till bred.
