I think the theory there bigrig is that then they don't have a lot of rounds at their disposal without having to reload. The flaw in that is, that if there's no one else in the immediate area that is already armed and trained to take them out, what the h*lls the difference if I have to pop out one clip and slap in another. |

Posted By Steve on 23 Dec 2012 12:46 PM I'm kind of playing devils advocate here... point is... putting a guard or two in schools isn't going to stop anyone or anything. I can easily take one or two unsuspecting people out before they know what hit them. It's a feel good do-nothing action. The kind of thing this country has gotten into the habit of doing as opposed to actually fixing the problems.
I like your logic Bigrig! Steve, seriously? Your a computer geek, now you are a trained assassin that can easily take out unsuspecting folks? Trained personnel and strategically placed won't be unsuspecting, teachers trying to concentrate on their class will be. Just playing devil's advocate. |

believe me glw - people who are going to sit there all day, day in, day out are going to get complacent. Anyone who's being complacent is a very simple thing to take care of if you have any klind of tactical training... geek!?! harumph! |

Either way Steve, they are going to be better at what they do rather than a teacher who would rather concentrate on their class, than terrorists. Besides, the disgruntled folks now have tactical training? Yes, geek! Deal with it dude! Display it proudly. I only wish I had you're computer skills! |

highly possible if they're going to plan something like that out. You can research most anything these days. I understand your point but people are touting this as a fix. It isn't. The only fix is to change our society and no one's willing to talk about, or do that.

Like I've posted in other locations. Force all psychopaths to have "mental defect" tattooed on their foreheads, and have children screened for their propensity to commit crime. Those who fail the screening go directly to prison for life. That makes just as much sense as gun and magazine bans. As for armed guards in the schools, why should schools be "gun free" zones? Why should a mall or a movie theater be allowed to block concealed carry in their facilities? I read that in Aurora, Colo., there were three other theaters in the same vicinity as the one where the "batman killer" went on his rampage; so why did he pick the theater he did? It was the only one in the area that didn't allow concealed carry holders to carry inside the building!!!!!!! If these psychos know that there is someone who can shoot back in the schools, perhaps they wouldn't be so quick to attack the schools!!!!!!!!!! As far as paying for school guards, the Feds could just stop sending millions of dollars to Pakistan ( and other countries who are our enemies) and instead pay trained military personnel, (active or retired) to guard our children. |

An easy way to protect our schools is to fence them in and have cameras monitoring the entrances. This wouldn't be 100% idiot proof, but it most likely deter. And then require the principal and 10 % of the faculty to be concealed carry. But again its not fool proof. If someone wants to do something like what happened in Newtown, they will find a way to carry it out. If the kid had used a car full of explosives, then what, the government outlaws cars. To me the problem still stems from how kids are raised. Especially now. More and more kids and adults are using social media to react with one another. Sure its convenient, but they don't get the one on one interactions with other people. If there was more one on one interaction, some of these problems could be spotted ahead of time.
Whatever happened to the days when kids were allowed to bring guns to school as long as they stayed in their truck. Our principal used to take us out hunting after school when I was a kid. These days a principal or teacher would be fired for doing this. To me the problem still starts at home and in Washington with accountability. Until parents can teach their kids accountability, the problem will never be solved. I have an extra kid staying with us because of the same such parents. The kid got into some trouble at school and the parents completely went off of the kid and told him to get out of the house. Sorry just a little venting. Hope everyone has a Merry Christmas. |

Thanks to all of you who served. To me the men and women of our military who served in active duty are the only ones who should have a lifetime government pension and the best free medical care for life. Again thanks for your service so that we will hopefully keep our constitutional rights to carry a gun. |

That's an interesting statement, but I raises 2 questions. First being; How does the VA know you have a CCW permit in the first place? And second being; How would the DOJ get word of ones need for such prescribed medication in order to revoke your CCW permit? I believe that is in violation of the (VA) patients medical information "Privacy Rights." And I know first-hand that the VA is VERY STRICT on enforcing those rights. Even the patient has to fill out request forms to obtain copies of their own medical records. And if requesting records for another (VA) patient, THAT patient ALSO has to fill out forms authorizing release of such records. I do understand that IN EXTREME cases, your statement does have some merit. But, as I said, EXTREME Cases. Maybe webbie should move this to the Vets forum so the original topic can stay on track. Here's a link to the VA's Notice of Privacy Practices. http://www.va.gov/vhapublications/viewpublication.asp?pub_id=1089 |

Well it would fall under the state hippa laws, I would hope. I just don't trust our government, at all! Actually, this topic is about gun control, in Obama's eyes. |
