I'm sure some of you have already seen this e-mail that I received, but I thought it was a powerful message.

AMERICA'S HUNTERS ---
Pretty Amazing!

The world's largest army... America 's hunters!
I had never thought about this...

A blogger added up the deer license sales in just a handful of states and arrived at a striking conclusion:

There were over 600,000 hunters this season in the state of Wisconsin ..
Allow me to restate that number: 600,000

Over the last several months, Wisconsin's hunters became the eighth largest army in the world.

More men under arms than in Iran .

More than France and Germany combined.

These men deployed to the woods of a single American state, Wisconsin , to hunt with firearms, and no one was killed.

That number pales in comparison to the 750,000 who hunted the woods of Pennsylvania and Michigan's 700,000 hunters,
all of whom have now returned home safely. Toss in a quarter million hunters in West Virginia and it literally establishes the
fact that the hunters of those four states alone would comprise the largest army in the world.
And then add in the total number of hunters in the other 46 states.
It's millions more.

The point?

America will forever be safe from foreign invasion with that kind of home-grown firepower.

Hunting...
it's not just a way to fill the freezer. It's a matter of national security.

******************** *******************
That's why all enemies, foreign and domestic, want to see us disarmed.

Food for thought, when next we consider gun control.

Overall it's true, so if we disregard some assumptions that hunters don't possess the same skills as soldiers, the question
would still remain...
What army of 2 million would want to face 30, 40, 50 million armed citizens???

(IF YOU AGREE, AS I DO, PASS IT ON, I FEEL GOOD THAT I HAVE AN ARMY OF MILLIONS WHO WOULD PROTECT OUR LAND AND I SURE DON'T WANT THE GOVERNMENT TAKING CONTROL OF THE POSSESSION OF FIREARMS)

For the sake of our freedom, don't ever allow gun control or confiscation of guns.

And why isn't anyone talking about what's probably the root cause? All these kids grow up with is violence. It's literally everywhere, TV, movies, games, books, f'ing EVERYWHERE. And no one sees this as a problem. Boggles my mind.
Due to the high cost and unavailability of ammo today do not expect to get a warning shot!!

Also you NEVER hear where a gun owner has SAVED people. It is just not news that 4 thousand times a year a gun owner has protected someone or their home.

I agree with Steve, kids are exposed to too much violence every where they turn, they become conditioned to it.The problem is in real life there is no reset button you can push to start the game over.

My wifes uncle sent a note earlier spouting that God needed to step in and save us all. Well, think whatever you want but show me once in documented historical records that God has stepped into anything except peoples minds!

Here's the reply he got from me. I doubt I'll hear back but such is life....

Sorry, but I disagree. This kind of thing happens because parents teach their children no sense of morality or discipline today. Today's kids don't know what the word no, or work for it, or respect your elders, etc. even mean let alone how to follow it. Couple that with everything today from comic books, TV shows, movies, video games, almost anything you can name is nothing but violence. Who does anything about it? NO ONE. "Oh, is only TV" or "oh it's only a movie (or game), they know it's not real. My little babies would never do anything like that"

WHY NOT?? It's the only role models they have and it's the behavior the emulate. It's been drummed into their heads.

I'm sorry, but god's not going to fix this or anything else. The only thing that will fix this is a drastic change in our society and it's views but sadly, it's only going to get worse because people will not accept any blame at all. This will all end up in a massive gun control push which will solve nothing and not even begin to address the real problem.

Sorry, that's how I see it.

No reason to be sorry.  You are 100% right.  The majority of the kids these days have no idea what the word WORK FOR IT means.  They want mom and dad (or for adults Obama) to give them everything. I see this a lot in the new hires where I work.  You can tell the kids who were told no or had to work for things they wanted.  Sad to say the majority of the responsible kids have been farm kids. As far as I see it, gun control will not solve the problems.  The problems have to be fixed at home by the parents.

I have said it many times , that every school needs to have certified gun course trained personel carring conceled . IF the princpal in Con. had been carring she could have stopped or limited the killing . Yes she tried to stop it bare handed and got herself killed tring. NEVER bring a knife to a gun fight or your bare hands .
Schools are a easy prime target for wierdos looking for away to make a news splash for thier deranged mind set. Next thing will be suiced bombers. Best place to couse maxium destroction , is in a place where no one is armed. Schools, churches, bars , banks to name a few.

I suggest that every person send a note to ALL of their reps, including the POTUS about the impending gun control flood. I feel extremely sad for the families who are going through this tragedy but tell them the problems, not the knee jerk reaction.

Here's what I sent to ALL of my reps. Based on a post I made and a note I sent yesterday:

This is in reference to the impending flood of gun control chaos. I'm deeply saddened and devastated by the recent massacre of children. There is a massive flood of more gun control rantings. "Ban guns and this won't happen" seems to be the standard knee
jerk reaction in this sort of thing.

Sorry, but I disagree. This kind of thing happens because parents teach their children no sense of morality or discipline today. Today's kids don't know what the word no, or work for it, or respect your elders, etc. Couple that with everything today from comic books, TV shows, movies, video games, almost anything you can name is nothing but violence. When are you going to begin to represent what's best for the people, not what's simply popular?

Amen Steve!

I believe it was John Adams that said our form of government only works with a moral people. Found the quote, here it is:

“Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”

Well, here ya go, we are neither.......

I agree with 41mag. I keep thinking about the principle and others who confronted this guy without any kind of protection. Would the outcome been different if at a minimum they had a tazer gun? Probably not going against a bullit proof vest and a assault rifle.

I don't own a AK or AR style gun nor do I want one, but if those Libs succeed in banning them I fear for what will be next. It is too complicated for them to address the issue of mental illness or how to provide more help to those that suffer from it.

I think BPEARCE hit the nail on the head ALL these shooters had mental problems and no one around them stepted up to the plate in getting them help. Read about any of these shooters and you will see the signs of mental problems that were not taken seriously.

Just this morning, I was approached by a buddy who's first comment was, "did you get your AR yet?" As usual this is going to turn into a political issue. Right now, the Federal Government via Homeland Security should be taking advantage of the next couple of weeks (Christmas Holiday) to make our children and grandchildren safe. We spent billions putting up a fence to keep the Mexicans out. Let's put some money into making our schools safe. Adults are going to kill adults, been going on since the beginning of time, but our kids need to be kept safe. I think about my home where you'd be an idiot to try to come in uninvited. When I travel, again, you'd be an idiot to try to car-jack my vehicle. But in school I have no means to protect my granddaughters. One lives here and is in the first grade. The other lives in Florida. I thought about how easy it would be to get inside my Granddaughter's school. Right now, we (USA) should put all political issues aside and focus on schools. We'll deal with criminal punishment and security in other public places later. That freak could have just as easily walked into that school with a baseball bat and had the same result. I know it's going to turn our schools into prisons but better a prison than a cemetery.

bpearce, you fell into the trap set by the media. NONE of these psychopaths used an assault weapon. AR style guns ARE NOT assault weapons. AK style rifles are only assault weapons when they are capable of fully automatic fire; in which case they are already regulated. These people are using semi-automatic rifles which may resemble a military style M-16 or M-4, but the similarity ends with the appearance and the fact that they use a detachable magazine. My BAR also has a detachable magazine and the biggest difference is in the fact that the floor plate is hinged and the magazine doesn't extrude below the receiver of the rifle. There are also plenty of .22 LR rifles out there that have a detachable magazine, so under the gun grabbers definition those would also be considered "assault rifles". Look at the list of guns the Brady Campaign wants to have banned. You will find not only AR style rifles and shotguns, but also mini-14 and mini-30 Rugers, and that mossberg 500 with the pistol grip and short barrel is also on the list, along with ANY SHOTGUN that can have a collapsable stock ADDED to it, or that can have a magazine extension added. That pretty much eliminates every semi-automatic or pump action shotgun manufactured!!!!!!! The biggest problem is the misinformation and the outright lies told by the gun grabbers and their liberal media friends, coupled with their vulture like intensity to jump on every incident and tout their "assault weapon" myths. You are correct with your comment that given the opportunity they will not be content to stop with the AR style guns, and before we know it they will be banning compound bows and crossbows as well!!!!!!!!!

As a teacher (and Concealed Carry Licensee), I work in a place where EVERYONE is unarmed. Every person in a federal building, bank, post office, school, or any business with a "No Concealed Weapons" sticker on the window is unarmed. These places make EXCELLENT targets for attacks. Do you think a psychotic person would dare enter a police station and start shooting the place up? NO!! We are long overdue to revise the existing laws about where "Concealed Weapons" should be allowed by people who have the right to legally carry.
