Just do what you think is right . If you set up on a main path in public they should expect some traffic. Sure avoid if you can but not always possible. Good luck and happy hunting sir. Everyone welcome to hit me up for friends request , always looking to meet and chat and find out how others hunt. |

hutschig: I agree with you on that. I've had that situation happen from both sides. We moved on by when it happened to me. And, I've had people just keep going when I was in that situation. Them two jerks that walked in to the water hole I was at really ticked me off. I'm being nice about my feelings on that one. The water hole I was at was at the end of a road. They walked in from the opposite side of the water hole from where the road was. Your also right that if your along side of a path or a road. you have to expect people to come by. It's going to happen. As long as they keep going when they see you. There's no issue. |

Since I don't hunt public lands, if someone were to trespass on my property, you can be damn sure I'm going to be slinging some lead in their direction, and I'm not even joking!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

While the jerks that set up on the other side other side of the water hole were within their LEGAL rights, they were about as far away from being ethical SPORTSMEN! People like that are just selfish idiots who respect NO ONE, including themselves! I repeat.... IDIOTS! RT, I'd exercise caution with that approach... You have no idea who it is or their level of mental stability, or more importantly, instability! You never know when someone may *snap* and shoot back, only to hit. Calling LE for trespassing would be a much better and safer approach IMO. It's always better to take actions that will guarantee seeing tomorrows sunrise when at all possible. |

I moved about 75 yards up wind from them. I actually had a better spot than I did when I was right next to the water hole. I could see more. I did have a few words to say to them. They just sat there. It seems that the best hunt of the year brings out the most and biggest jerks. I have seen more jerks the last three elk hunts than ever before. That includes outfitters. I ran across one outfitter just north of Tucson while javalina hunting that ticked me off so bad with his mouth that I threatened to get off the rock I was on and put my foot up his rectum if he didn't watch his mouth. Every outfitter I've run across has been a jerk. Thats been three of them. So, outfitters have struck out. Just like in baseball. One of them watched me tracking a nice bull. It so happened we were moving toward this out fitter and his 3 clients. They jumped out and shot the bull I was tracking. |

Steve, I'd accomplish as much jerking off, as I would by calling the cops!!!!!!!!! Hell, as crooked as those sum beatches are down here, the trespassers would probably be cops or relatives of cops!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ron, wouldn't that be even more reason"not" to shoot toward them? We have a lot of trespassers around where I hunt. I just let them know I'm here and they shouldn't be, they will usually keep moving without conflict. I trespassed by accident this past season (I got a little sidetracked). When I realized I was on someone elses property, I unloaded my gun and slung it over my back. That way if I ran into someone, I could show them I wasn't hunting and just looking to get back where I belonged. I wouldn't want lead slung my way? Now maybe if they wanted to give you a bunch of lip, well, I guess I could understand differently. |

I feel you did the right thing. If it had been me sitting there when you came along, I would appreciate the acknowledgement of my presence. I have seen others that just didn't see me, suddenly stop in stunned surprise when I alerted them. Its the real bonehead that thinks anything is ok because it is public land that we are talking about here. That guy really doesn't understand that he is willing to accept a lesser quality hunt himself as well as ruining yours! |

GLW, in my case, it's the same people repeatedly, year after year. They know damn good and well that they are trespassing, and frankly they don't give a damn! That's why I have become very aggressive towards these repeat offenders. As I said, the property they are trespassing on is my family land, and not only are they guilty of poaching, but also destroying trail cameras driving over food plots, and tampering with stands, and generally practicing havoc on our property. My biggest desire is to actually capture them, confiscate their guns and ATVs, and hold them for the state cops............not the locals!!!!!!!!!!!! |

I feel you did the right thing. Public land is to be shared so this is to be expected. Question is are you willing to accept a lesser chance of seeing game yourself. in addition to ruining someone else's hunt, just because the other guy doesn't own the bleeping waterhole ? I'm guessing most would answer "no". |

I understand Ron, that really sucks? The old property I used to hunt on was pretty much the same deal. The landowner would call the authorities and nothing would come of it. We knew who they were too! Most of the neighborhood didn't like these folks either, and it seemed they were in tight with the locals also. They would run patterns across the property with owl calls, this is how they would talk to each other. Dumb a$$es out in the middle of the day hooting to each other. |

11BGUNT .. ON PUBLIC LAND YOU WILL COME ACROSST ALOT OF PEOPLE THAT THINK THEY OWN THE AREA BUT THEY DON'T SO IF YOU SEE ANOTHER HUNTER IN A STAND AND HE YELL'S AT YOU TO GET OUT OF THERE YOU CAN TELL HIM YOUR JUST GOING THROUGH AND LEAVE IT AT THAT.. I WORK FOR US FISH & WILDLIFE AND HAVE HAD ALOT OF CALL'S FOR STUPED HUNTER THAT START FIGHT'S ON PUBLIC LAND HUNTING AREAS AND MOST OF THEM JUST END UP IN HAND CUFF'S .... I MY SELF HAVE PUT MANY IN HAND CUFF'S FOR THAT SO JUST GO THROUGH AND DONT SAY ANYTHING TO THEM .. IF THEY START ANY TROUBLE WITH YOU JUST CALL LAW ENFORCEMENT AND TELL THEM WHAT HAPPEND AND THEY WILL TAKE CARE OF IT .. PLEASE DONT DO ANYTHING YOUR SELF .. I'M A RETIRED USMC SNIPER AND WILL DO MY JOB WHEN IT COME'S TO PEOPLE THAT THINK THEY ARE GOD .. AND MOST FIND OUT THAT THEY ARE NOT WHEN THEY BRAKE OUT IN HAND CUFF'S.. I'VE ONLY HAD TO SHOOT ONE IN MY LIFE TIME AND WOULD DO IT AGAIN IF , I HAD TO .. JUST BE SAFE OUT THERE HUNTING MY FRIEND.. |
