Took to the back country and stalked this one down. Snuck into his bedroom for a midday wakeup call and dropped him with a 165 grain Trophy Bonded Bearclaw at just 35 feet. |

Congrats on the great buck.
Also congrats on your hunting prowess, stalking into, and taking a mature buck in his bedroom is no easy task.

It is indeed a rush Steve. On those occasions when we have snow I used to like taking to the big woods up north and tracking them down too. Awsome way to hunt. When this one stood up so close I pretty much crapped my britches though. |

Swampstomper, where are you located in Wisconsin?
The reason I'm asking is because I live about 35 miles NW of Superior in Minnesota. In 2010 I started to organize a Grouse hunt GT for our Minnesota members, if your not too far away maybe you could join us some year. Most of us participate in the hunt, but I always encourage a meet and greet as well. We grill a lunch in the gravel pit that we stage out of.

Lunkerdog. I hail from the center of the State, just south of Wausau. Superior is quite a drive but I'll keep it in mind. |

As it turns out I was luckier than I ever thought. Just a few days later I was hunting to fill a doe tag. I saw a few deer and raised my rifle only to find that the scope was a blurr. Apparently the O-rings gave out after twelve years and the nitrogen escaped rendering the scope useless. |
