I'll be off to Flagstaff on Monday to do some final scouting.  My rifle bull hunt starts on thursday.  Will let everyone know what happens when I'm done.  I got drawn for 7w.  I do have two rifles that will do the job.  Primary one is my 30-338 Magnum.  Back up is my -06  with 180 grain Federal vital shocks with Barnes TSX bullets.

Good Luck. Our bull hunt in 6B starts Nov 30. We have 5 tags to fill in our party. I built a 375 ruger rifle, going to take that along with my 348 winchester, and 30-06.

Good luck to you too.  I made a mistake on my first post.  I'm so used to going to 7w that I said I was hunting there.  I'll be in 7e.  I think 6B is supposed to be a pretty good unit also.

The west side of I17 does produce some nice animals; however, it seems to be a lot less productive than 6A or 5B, which are across the freeway. Good luck to both of you.

The bow season was just before our season.  Even then.   They all were pretty spooky.  My brother in law got a nice 5x5 at 7:30 in the morning.  And, a nephew got his 5 minutes later on horse back.  I didn't see anything.  I caught legs running thru the trees right after my brother in  shot his.  Here's the thing that really bothers me.  My nephew was listening to a self proclaimed expert that used to be a " sniper".  They were using 168  grain poly tipped bullets in 300 Weatherby's.  He was telling them that was the ultimate bullet in 308 caliber.  Yes, in 308.  Not 300 weatherby.  I said for deer sized game.  yes.  Not for elk.  I tried to tell them they were too light.  I was right .  They got angry at me when I pointed  out how the bullets blew up on impact.  And how it took 4 shots to take one elk.  And, 5 shots to take the other one. I was so hoping to get a shot.  Then say, " see what happens when you use the right bullet weight?"  I was using 190 grain Hornady interlocks in my 30-338 magnum.
