I just found out today that I was selected as an alternate for the Sika Deer hunt on Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge in the first week of Jan. I've been wanting to do this hunt for quite awhile and now I'm going to be able to. I drew the zone that butts up against the Maryland line and my days are the 7th and 8th.
The bag limit is 5 per day per hunter. I don't realistically think it is feasible to kill 10 of them, nor would I want to. But taking 1 or 2 would be great. These things are actually classified as elk but they are a lot smaller than the elk I grew up hunting in my native Colorado.
Cheers!
