Just recieved the FREE RANGE DROP POINT 2043 from Stuff... Looks and feels pretty good, I do like the size and handle. I read a comment another tester posted of the same knife about not staying sharp. I put it in my Lansky and found one side had a nice 20 degree angle to it, and the other had a rounded one. Took about an hour to get it into shape. I plan on using it on a buffalo around Thanksgiving. Hope we get one on the ground. |

PD, isn't that knife a CRKT product? I believe it is, and it has some very good steel, it may be difficult to sharpen at first, but like a good Buck, once it's sharp it will hold the blade. Too many people don't know how to sharpen a knife, so they would gripe about any knife's edge. I wouldn't put a lot of faith in what some folks have to say when it comes to a quality brand name knife and it's abilities to stay sharp............even if it's not made in the US, Germany, or Japan. The steel is the major component, especially in a fixed blade knife and the harder the steel the harder it is to sharpen!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Thanks guys ; This is the Crkt, I think the other guy had difficuly keeping an edge is because the bevel could have been off. I own Bucks, and yes they do. I'm hoping this is the same. I am glad I sharpened it right out of the box though. |

Just for general information.........some knife companies don't put a very sharp blade on their products when shipping them, since some idiots always manage to cut themselves and sue!!!!!!!!!! |

Got back late last night froma 6 hour drive. Had great time. My sister in law shot her buff about 4:00pm on Fri. Two shots at about 125yds and down went a ton of animal. We striped the carcass by head lamp and left it in the snow till morning. The CRKT did a good job. Skinned and short quartered half that beast with my brother. Damn tuff hide. It will work, but it's hard to let a good Buck knife lay. We found some large dog tracks all day looking for this bull. When I figure out how I'll get a pic up |

Heard him howl Fri. morning, tryed to call him in but no luck. Met a handful of hunters hunting for wolves there. Only one still out till the quotas met. Sure wish I could have seen one. That's a big track. Thanks |

Hey all' I went up and helped a friend get an elk out this afternoon. Took out the CRKT FREE RANGE and removed the legs at the knees. It was still sharp from the buffalo hide. I can say that I am impressed with the blade, Held an edge through the buff and elk. |

I think I mentioned that CRKT has an excellent reputation for their knives being extremely good quality and superb cutting tools, so I'm not surprised at your results. They are also on the cutting edge of new product development and their R&D is one of the best in the business. |
