I was lucky enough to get drawn for a tag for Lone Star Lakes State Park over by Suffolk. It was a management hunt and as hunter's choice I could use shotgun, muzzleloader or archery eqpt. I opted for a slug gun. The park staff asked us not to be selective but to take what we saw. So that is just what I did.

It wasn't the biggest buck in the woods but a decent sized spike.  He was cleanly shot and was in really good shape (dressed at 92 lbs) and should eat well. I was very happy to get him. Now if I can get a nice plump doe, Me and Mama are set for the year.

.

Cheers Y'all!

Flags,
Congrats. I killed one on opening day of muzzleloader season, it was a good sized bodied deer, but only had 3 points (and ugly ones at that). But it's meat in the freezer.
They can have my guns when they can pry them from my cold dead fingers. A man with a gun is a citizen, a man without a gun is a subject.
