Your best bet is to go to your local pro-shop and talk to them. They'll advise you.  No matter what you decide, there is no such thing as too much practice.  And if you were thinking for this fall season, waaaaaayyyy to late to start. You can be good to go for next year though

Very confusing to me as well .I've been at it for many years .1981 .And still learning .Don't take what I am saying to stop you as that first kill will hook you for life .It take many hours of practice on your part .And join a club ..or just go to some shoots .Those people will teach you a lot .

Patience, Patience, Patience

Don't expect to just grab a bow, get in a stand, and be surrounded by deer. It ain't as easy as the hunting shows on tv.....and if it is, then I want to hunt with you.

You have to be much more still and scent free when bow hunting, since they will usually be within 30 yards for any bow shots. And that leads to this.....make sure that you practice, practice, and practice some more at different yardages from your stand, as it is different than shooting from flat ground.

Make sure you have shooting lanes and know the distances, as you don't always have time to pull out a range finder.

Have fun and good luck to you.

If u have never shot befor only shoot a set of arrows wait about 10 minutes shoot another set, and so forth. If u sit and shoot and shoot you'll notice your patterns will start to stray, keep in mind the more u shoot in one setting the more you will tend to tork your bow, your muscles will wear. Practice daily religiously and start at 20 yards and work your way up. When your ready to start hunting learn your land, and spend alot of time glassing. This will help you tremendously. Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All I can say is....What works for one person.....may not work for the next? Trial and error is the best way to see what works for you? Just have fun, that's what matters the most!

Go to your local pro shop, and buy a few books. You are getting into a lot of fun, but it is time consuming.
