Thanks but I've no problem with either my 500 Mossy 12 ga or 300 Savage 99 depending on where I'm hunting. It really is a good friend of mine who has a propensity for tree shooting. Know the TV shot Top Shot? I had him a tee shirt made for his birthday that had the Top Shot logo on the front of it but it was changed to read Tree Shot

Thanks for the good wishes.

WARM!?!?!?!?!?!?!  That's long john weather, with gloves and a coat.  Warm is 90 degrees or more, like in my early season.  Close to 50 is cold, less than 45 is damn near freezing, and below 40 is arctic weather!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

lol - guess it's all perspective rt. Personally, I like it cold (20s-30s) with a few inches of nice fresh snow and a bright sunny day. Not too much prettier. Doesn't look like it's going to happen this year.... again...

Steve, remember that saying? "be careful of what you wish for, because you might just get it.... plus some more" You might end up using a snowmobile to get around.

Honestly?  I WISH!  Been a LONG time since we've had snow in the NE for deer season.

lol - most of the time I'd agree rt but I gotta tell ya, sitting in the woods on a calm day with the sun out shining on a covering of newly fallen snow is absolutely gorgeous. Now, that said, those kinds of days are few and far between... usually it's blowing like a beaitch and of course, right into your face.... ;-) But, catch a good one and it's something to behold. Plus them brown suckers stand out like a beacon.

They also stand out really well on a nice green food plot, and especially over a bright yellow corn pile!!!!!!!!!

Probably so rt... In my case it doesn't matter I guess. My season's over and it didn't even start...

The guy who owns the farm that I've hunted for YEARS gave permission to some guys from Westchester County (Read as NYC) to hunt.  We first encountered them about 3 years ago and had dialog with them telling them that we'd been hunting there for 25 years. They left the area and we thought that was it. Well they kept coming back but kinda stayed away from the general area that we focused on. Ok - can deal with that.

I just went over to put my little stool out so I didn't have to carry it in and set it up opening morning in the dark.  The b*stards have a tent city setup back there.  I REALLY wanted to give them some new windows with my knife but while they have no ethics, I couldn't bring myself to do any harm. I AM going to write a scathing letter to the b*stards and tape it to every f'ing thing they have back in there though.  Being NYC a-holes, they won't care but it may make me feel a bit better.

Hey Steve, go out and hang blue rags around every spot of deer sign you know about.

Deer see blue and will be too wary to come around. If the deer don't come maybe they'll leave.

Wow, I never knew that Jim. I can't bring myself to be as big of an a-hole as they're being but I definitely am going to leave them "love notes"...

What does the landowner have to say about them and what they're doing? Why did he give them permission to hunt it, since you have had it for so long??????????? Sounds like the landowner fugged you over in the first place!!!!!!!

BTW, blue is the portion of the color spectrum that deer can definitely see, and that is the color that UV brighteners make all fabrics appear.........including camo! That's why I always use scent killing laundry detergent with the UV dampeners in it, and never, ever wear anything new into the woods, without washing it in a detergent that kills the UV brighteners!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Glenn doesn't give a chit, he just wants the deer shot. (He's a farmer) Strangest thing though. I just took a walk over there and someone had duct taped letters to all of their stands. Really bizarre. ;-)

Steve, as I'm understanding this, these guys must be bow hunting. Do they gun hunt too?

Sounds like they plan on setting up a member board so people will know which stand is already being used as they get set to go out. I've seen similar systems, usually with numbers on metal tags or spray painted on the stands, then there will be a board or a sign in sheet at a gate or other central entry point to the property. As people come in to hunt, they sign in and indicate which stand location and the date and time of arrival and departure..........as well as a description of anything seen, killed, or missed.

Nope, the tent city's setup for Saturdays gun opening.

And um.... no Ron... I said that tongue in cheek... I put the love letters on their blinds/stands. I can't bring myself to go out and make a bunch of noise in the woods and ruin their hunt but hopefully I can make them feel like a-holes with words. Probably not ....
