Hey fellow Pennsylvanians, how is everyone's Small Game, Archery, Turkey and/or Predator seasons going so far?

There are almost a million of us stomping around the great woods of PA, and hardly any chatter on this board.

Myself, I have been archery archery hunting hard every Saturday and taking the occasional 'sick day' off work when the weather has been right and the woods call me.  I've filled two of my doe tags so far - one in 2B with the Freddy Bear compound and the other in 2A with my new Maverick crossbow.  Haven't seen any shooter bucks since the early doe-only archery season (isn't that how it always works!), but I am very happy to have some meat in the freezer.

How about you guys, anyone else score anything yet?  Let's hear some stories...

Archery season I saw deer every time out , no big hurry on a doe and over the dozen plus bucks I saw one was a shooter though still not a big one . He walked down a hill and right through my opening that I put a scent drag on and never stopped , just gave me time get on the string and never draw . Oh well time to switch to bullets and on the first Sat. them does will have a problem .

Go get 'em MRD. I hope you score man. Maybe gun season will bring some more stories from the rest of us.

A buddy of mine is in the Air Force and he's coming back to Pittsburgh tomorrow. I scheduled a day off work Wednesday and he and I are going down to my girlfriend's sister's place in Washington County to try and fill a tag or two. Then heading up to Templeton, PA next Friday after work to try and fill some more tags Saturday morning.

Good luck to everyone, and BE SAFE!

Well the first day of rifle season the gals and kid kicked the guys butts . Out of us four guys all we saw were doe . My brothers 10 year old grandson got a nice 5 pt. "his first" on a mentored hunt with his grandmother first thing in the morning , then after lunch she shot a BIG 14 point , and both of my nieces got 6 pts. Lots of smiles at dark today ! Even better were the stories that went along with each one .

A buddy got a nice 8 point on the farm, my son saw 3 (couldn't get a shot at either of the 2 legal ones) and I saw one but passed on the running shot at 200 yds. Dad saw a couple of does. The rest of us all saw at least a dozen deer by lunch time. Good hunting and seeing day, just not a great shooting day.

My son didn't want to miss school so we came home tonight, we'll head back up to DuBois for Saturday. I'm going out to one of the Gamelands in Lancaster on Tues. and poke around.

Got a nice size doe about 8am opening day of rifle, she came around some brush I was sitting by and was about 10 yds away b4 she realized I was there. She ran about a hundred yards b4 she went down even pouring blood from the 45/70 hole in her. Its amazing how far adrenalin will take them. We saw a couple more smaller does and 1 buck but couldnt get a shot so hopefully be back out this weekend, u know that dammed thing called work. Good luck everyone and stay safe.

Congrats 1arm!  It always amazes me how far they can run when you see all the blood they've lost.  My girlfriend's buck last year (her first) ran UP a hill and died about 100 yards from where she arrowed it.  Hit the one lung in the middle, nicked the other lung, and shaved the liver.  Unreal.

Good luck to you!

Well, my buddy from the Air Force saw a total of 16 deer for the day hunting the spot I set him up at (I only saw one doe!), and he scored on a last-minute buck just before dark. We tracked it through the thorns and thickets in the dark and found him piled up on a hillside. Rough drag back up to the field and I think I lost as much blood as his buck, but it was well worth it. My buddy is headed back home to Nevada this morning with a smile on his face, and we have some great memories.

Off to Templeton Friday to try to get one.

Good luck to everyone!
