My niece has decided that she wants to go bear hunting. Of course that means I am going too, but since we normally hunt deer and small game I am looking for advice. We are open to any area of New Mexico and I know there are bear in the Manzano Mountains, and I ma sure they are in the Gila as well. For Firepower, I carry a .30-06 which should be sufficient for most anything, my niece carries a .243 bolt action, is that enough gun for a bear? She is a very good shot, better than anyone else that I know. She can hit a tootsie pop at 50 yards! Anyway, any advice would be helpful. I would like to know when are the best times, the best places, and anything else you are willing to share. |
