We are at the tail end of a Nor'easter here in RI today. We have had high winds and snow/sleet/rain for the past 2 days. I was wondering what type of activity should I expect from deer after the storm? Thanks for the help.

Here in Northern Minnesota the deer are eerily absent for about a day after the first good snowstorm. It's almost like they know they've just become more vulnerable as they are easier to see once we have snow on the ground. After about a day they go on a feeding binge, and many bucks will run a tour of their scrape lines. After the first storm they will usually start feeding immediately after a weather system goes threw.

All critters can sense major weather changes. I had a day some years ago they were calling for a nasty front moving in late in the afternoon I was in my treestand in the morning and it wasn't will I get a shot but which deer to shoot. I ended up with a nice 8 and a big doe. Several years earlier on Thurs and Fri it was cold 25F, breezy and dropped four inches of snow. Saturday broke sunny, calm and 50F. And the situation was the same which deer to shoot that was the first time I scored twice in one day with the bow. Now the last two days we've had cold 25F-30F and windy. Tomorrow its supposed to be 45F-60Fwith SW wind to 10MPH. I think conditions may be ripe for me to have a chance at a double for a third time. I've been playing the weather for years. I've learned that when the wind is blowing so hard you'll get seasick in your treestand stay home. Right before or after a major weather front all the critters are on the move and I'm in the woods.

Man you ain kidding Gut, it's freakin cold sitting in a tree lately? I have my sights set on a doe tommorrow morning that I plan on ambushing in the darkness of the hemlocks! I've been watching her from the trees!
