I was out scouting for the up coming gun season I have a lottery "B" tag and I got to watch a nice 6pt for 30min just hang out with a Doe. He was never more 40 yards from her the entire time. I saw several other Doe's during my scouting trip. Some were alone some in groups of two or three. It was a great scouting day, I saw some nice rubs and couple of scrapes but not as many as I was expecting to see. Some of my archery spots that I have in FF county still seem to be a bit slow but I expect that to change very soon. I am very excited and expected things to really heat up. I just hope the warm day time temps next week don't slow things down to much. |

Went out this morning and got a nice 3pt... I know, let the little ones go to grow up and I know there are bigger bucks around but I don't have many more days left in the woods with work picking up. I was in my stand for 15min. and he came in. Was able to get back to work this morning on time as well. Tomorrow I will be back out in the morning, well see what happens. |

any one else having any luck or seeing any action? I walked to my stand this morning and it just smelled of buck, I was pumped. Did see a dow and two yearlings, did not see any bucks. My camera showed a nice 6pt 45min before I got there. The activity is a lot slower than I would have expected. |

I went out prowling the woods on Wed. saw 3 skippers and a doe that was hellbent for gettin someplace real danged fast..she came blasting out of the swamp, ears back tail straight out behind her, full force run..went by me at 60mph at about 30 feet...and that was my opening day...just for nothing seems the rut is running just on the slow side..some are chasing..but not much in the way of rubs and scrapes...guys are getting the bigguns on camera...just not when they are around...with the cold nights and medium days it might get going good by next week (hopefully mid week).... |

My wife got a MASSIVE 8 pointer that weighs 160 dressed. Brought it to Northeast Taxidermy, and it was the biggest that was brought there while we were waiting for it to be caped. The antler bases and beams are bigger than any of the three I have mounted!!! I'll post pics later. |

mox-ct, congratulations on the nice deer! Yes the rut seems a bit slow in some places, hot it others. I am getting pics of some nice bucks but all at night still, not much during the daylight. It was cold this morning, got out before work. All I saw was a coyote which I could not get a shot at. |

The rut was supposed to be early this year, the first two weeks of November, so look for activity again the first two weeks in December.

Second rut is going on! Got this nice 6 pt after he came in chasing a fawn, nose to the ground the entire time. You can't tell from the pic but the other side of the deer is all chewed up. With in 15 min I had two Coyotes on it and had to chase them away. They didn't get at it to bad and I saved 90% of the meat so all was not lost. |

Report from a friend this morning said he had five different bucks come by chasing a doe. Each one got bigger and bigger as they went by. The doe never came close enough for him to get any type of shot he said. Two of the bigger bucks spared a little as well. His location is only 5 miles from where I shot the 6pt on wed. I will be back out in the stand tomorrow. Southern Fairfield County. |

Two Tales, thats tough man, hope you get better quick and can get back out there soon. I went out sat. and saw a doe, then right at sunset had a tall spike come in, he had 10" spikes that curved at the ends. Kind of neat to see that, I passed on him waiting for something bigger. Heard a coyote coming, the spike took off, and the coyote came in and gave me a 30 yard shot and I drilled him. Went 20 yards and pilled up. He has a good coat, going to get a tag and get him tanned. It felt good to get some justice, this was the same spot I got the 6pt on wed. were the coyotes got to my buck, so it feels good to get one of them. |
