Now that I am looking at 60 around the corner I have found that I have to pee every two to three hours. Last year and the previous 35 years of deer hunting I could sit in the stand for hours without a problem.

So the question is," When you are in your stand, what do you do? Do you use a bottle or let it fly,or walk away?

I was deer hunting in South Carolina recently. One time I climbed down and walked away from the stand (ladder) another time right through the back of the stand. I have heard that that deer do not know what the smell of human urine is.

Well when I sit all day, I usually use a bottle or a plastic bag. Ziploc bags are easy to carry when empty, I usually carry them out well away from my stand and dump them. With plastic bags you have to worry about punctures and the bags leaking so bottles are probably better to use.

Let it fly right out the stand, just make sure you don't pee on the ladder!!!

This question comes up every Fall.

As you already see, some will say let it fly, while others, to include myself prefer to use a bottle, sorry lady's, I don't have an answer for you

No doubt some here will say that they actually will pee on a scrape, and when they do so the deer always shreds the scrape afterwards.

This question is akin to the "smoking cigarettes in the stand". Some will say that they do it all the time and it doesn't matter, while others will advise that you should never do it

Joe So let me get this straight before you could go all day without a bladder call? Now you have to go every three hours? Sounds like you need to see your Doctor and have some tests done.

Males in their 50's are prone to be bothered more than folks in their 20's. The good ole prostate is the culprit for that!! I for one, have to be careful not to drink alcohol, especially with soda, the night before a hunt and caffiene in the morning will cause problems too. I don't care, I pee from the stand and still have deer come in range. There is a time limit when the urine turns neutral like any other pee, so I have heard? Does that mean estrus goes dead after an hour? Nope! So I really don't believe the caffiene smell leaves your urine either? But, the deer still come in, maybe just from curiosity. Cold weather can upset your system also, especially if you are shivering.
What if you have to fart? Is that different from any other mammal? It could benefit you due to the sound quality alone? LOL!!

Like Lunkerdog said , here we go again . Once again I have just gone over the side during archery this year and had thus far about a dozen deer inside 20 and a tad more at 30 to 40 . Still doesn't have any ill effect . Actually there was a university study on this years back , conclusion was pee smells like pee and they got the same results from their deer study group .

I too use a bottle. Gatorade bottles work well as they have a larger opening. A hunting buddy told me he uses one of those iced tea bottles, again because of the larger opening. I keep the bottle in one of the outside pouches on my pack, then empty it at the truck.
