I have 2 spots picked out on public land and im not sure what one I want to go to.   I want to go to one on opening mornig because I am afraid if i dont someone els will hunt there,  and there was alot of sign of a nice buck in that area.    The second spot I dont think anyone will hunt but it is near a corn field and a good natural funal so I think I would have a good chance at a deer there too.  The only bad thing about spot #2 is it is a really small sliver of state land between a dirt road and a swamp.   There is probly only about 50 yards or less woods between the swamp and the road.    A bad thing about spot #1 is there is alot of hunters in the area.  What do u think?

That is a tough call. When I can't make up my mind on which stand to hunt I flip a coin. Myself I would prefer being away from other hunters, but I wouldn't want to hunt spot #2 unless I had good signs of deer using it.

On spot #2 (if it has deer sign), what's on the opposite side, away from the swamp, and across the road? Is it also public land and does it receive much hunting pressure? If so, then that's where I'd go, since more than likely the deer will be heading to the swamp to avoid the hunters and that would be a good place to ambush 'em on their escape route.

rt, read my mind. I like to get away from others as far as possible. If that area has decent deer sign and the wind is right, I'd head to spot #2. Sounds like a great spot to sit all day and get a bead on deer trying to escape the masses!

On public land I get past the hunters and post the escape routs , #2 sounds good to me as deer like that strip of woods between the two changing terrains . Got a spot I hunt that's several hundred yds. wide between a field and a swamp and post on either side at 50 and shot deer on both looking out , they like that little bit inside thing .

Well ended up hunting spot 1 opening day and scored a small 7 point buck at about 4:30 . Didnt see any in the morning but heard one blowing at something.  So I never got to try out spot #2 I could only shoot one deer in that zone. Thanks for your posts .
