Thinking about changing guide services in South Carolina. Not really to happy about the lodge we have been using. Would like to stay in South Carolina. Any recommendations would be appreciated, Would you go back there? And what did you not like about there services. Do not want any high fences.

If I remember correctly, you have been hunting in the upstate region of SC. There are too many restrictions and limitations on hunting up there. If you seriously want to hunt in SC, and be in an area where you can hunt wild hogs and deer......without high fences, then check out some of these.

Blackcreek in Clarendon County, Broxton Bridge in Colleton County, Cinnamon Creek, Buck Run, and Bostic Plantation, all in Hampton County. Bostic is the oldest and best known in the South, and just this past year, I met kkimball from NY and his family, when they came down here to hunt hogs there.  They were completely satisfied with the lodge, guides, game, and food............not to mention the real SC Bar-B-Q, I introduced them to!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Joe, I apologize for having a senior moment when I posted the above. It should have been Cinnamon Ridge in Allendale county, and Cypress Creek in Hampton county.

Cypress Creek is owned and operated by Danny Harrell, a Lime Member of the NAHC, and a very fine individual. I'm sorry for my error.

Yea, just did our second deer boar combo. Last year four guys hunting five days, two sits per day. That is 40 sits and only one deer seen and harvested. I shot a 5 pointer. This was in the end of November.
We just came back from another five day hunt. Total sits last week was 56. I saw four does and one spike, my son saw a spike, other hunters saw one spike, one doe and one five pointer saw and shot. Total deer seen was 9. It appears that this guides woods are shot out. All deer seen or shot had corn in there bellies or were near it.
Also what he calls food plots are winter rye grass. Have yet to see any deer eating it.
Do not want to post name of lodge as he has boar head from last year that has yet to be mounted. This was shot behind a fence.
Will look at the info that you supplied.

I've never hunted at a guide service, or any hunting preserve, I just happen to know all of the people who either own or operate the places I listed, since all of them are within 15 miles or so from my house with the exception of the one in Clarendon county.

To rthomas

My son does not really care what he shoots. He cares more about seeing something to shoot. Whether deer or pig without fences.

Of all the places you recommend which one do you think has the most game?
Sorry not trying to put you on the spot.

Joe

Your best bet would be either Cypress Creek or Bostick Plantation. I believe both of them have internet sites, and Danny may even offer an NAHC discount at Cypress Creek. They both also offer spring turkey/boar hunts as well as fall deer/boar. Our deer season runs from August 15th to Jan. 1st, there is no closed season on hogs, and turkey season is March 15th to May 1st.
