I am active duty military and just got to the area. My son and I are avid hunters and just started trying ot learn waterfowl the last couple of years. We will obviously try the areas on Fort Bragg but were also hoping to find some areas or hunt clubs that offer daily access outside the base. We would also be interested in hunting with more experienced duck hunters to learn some tricks of the craft like different calling techinques or the right way to set decoys. Any help would be appriciated. Also Being from the west (wyoming) I can also help if someone were interested in fishing or hunting Northern Wyoming, Idaho or Alaska. I have family in all 3.

Ok no takers on the info in the Fort Bragg area. Can anyone provide any recommendations on the permit hunts. I was looking today and there are leftover permits in Goose Creek, upper roanoke, lower roanoke and croatan game lands, Some are christmas day hunts but there are some other dates as well. Any recommendations, do, don'ts or other advise. I did my scouting and have a few spots to try here on Bragg. Seems like Woodies, woodies and more woodies so far. never gone after the web feet... you make try butner in ( near durham ). large impoundment and a lot of deer in the area. imo

Hey Rick, I hunted Ft. Bragg for 20 years, but never for ducks. I have a listing of clubs that I was able to round up within the last year or so here : http://www.thencoutdoors.com/forum/...y.php?f=31

I have friends in the Moore Co branch of DU (Moore Co is on the west side of the base) and I know that area is gonna have mostly woodies and a few mallards in the right holes.

First things first, welcome to NC and thank you for your service. Sorry, I have not been on this site for some time. I just back into duck hunting after a 25-30 year lay off. The permit hunts are simple to apply for. I do not know anything about the left over areas you listed. I have hunted Suggs Mill Pond and Rhodes Pond, both are close to Fayetteville. But the last season and this year have been lame - bad weather conditions. The lack of cold air does not push the duck down from the north. We did have some luck on a draw hunt in Currituck. I live about 30 miles north of Fayetteville but have not found any good local ponds or swamps as yet. Hope you have a safe and successful season.
