I have had the opportunity to eat many types of game. However, there are some I have not had. Moose and caribou being the top 2 I would like to get next. I am wondering how some of you rate those 2 vs. deer and elk. Also, while were at it lets rate a top 5. From the game you have enjoyed. Thanks to anyone who responds.

Moose is best I have tried but no Caribou....but your question was "Best Game Meat"----Eland filet, period, nothing else compares even when from an old bull! Aging not required! |

IMHO the best game meat I ever had was my very first rabbit. Did all the work myself and even if some of it was a little well done and had some charbroiling on it ( I wasn't a great chef at 12 ) it was still the best I can remember. After that wild boar sausage over a hickory fire in camp was pretty darn good. |

I love elk, the meat is one of my all time favorites. I did find a meat that is not a traditional north american big game animal, but is well worth hunting, just hard to get a tag for. ORYX, can be hunted at White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico, and also on some private land hunts. The meat is tender, has a great flavor, and there is a fair amount for a full size bull or cow.

I have always heard that moose was better than elk. I really couldn't tell the difference. They both taste the same to me. Bison is really good. Javalina is next. Rabbit and squirrel are tied. About the same to me. |

Mt. lion is tasty. That's the only meat eater I've tried. The rest, their diet really effects the taste. |

An Oryx steak is likely the best wild meat I have ever eaten. Kinda hard to get a good supply though. Venison tenderloins have to be second. |

Top three red meats for me are Moose, Elk and Deer, in that order. For birds I would choose quail, blue grouse and dove. I wouldn't turn down a well cooked pheasant though.
