Clint it sounds like your moving right along with that young lady! The important thing to remember is do not move on till the previous lesson is set in stone!!!. If you do move on and previous taught tasks take a crap on you Go back immediately. So say you start handling her on blind training, All the sudden she is blowing off the sit whistle. Stop the blind training and go back to sit training. The biggest problem most folks have is moving forward to quickly. been guilty myself. We all think our dogs are the best or at least we want to!!! A solid dog is a well trained dog a well trained dog comes from patience. I once heard it said Your dog is like your peepee it only has to please you!!! Of course in much ruder terms but TRUE!!

Agree with baydreams last TWO posts!
Clint, I found that site a while back....dropped out.....don't hunt much in TN anymore
Sounds like you got her moving in right direction! Damn, Ol Abe as a pup got to where he would run, play with every bumper unless I had a leash on him. He would then bring straight back,,,,take it off, run play again....drove me nuts! Yelling "NO!!!"" , "HERE" had as bout as much effect as yelling Clint at him....I gave him two weeks in my mind to stragten up or be a pet that someone else owned....thank God , he straightened up....best retriever I have ever had!

Thats's exactly what she's doing. She seems to do better and do what I ask until I put the leash on her. Then she gives me a hard time. She will do the drills, but don't won't to. As soon as I take the leash off, she's ready to have fun again. I was told to make it fun for the dog, so that's what I'm doing. And I have been doing what Baydreams mentioned to. I have to go back several times and work with her on the sit, stay and here commands. I believe she's goin to be a pretty descent huntin buddy.

Most dogs don't do well on lead unless taught on lead.  If I am correct in my reading here you really never used a check cord on your young lady?  If that is the case thats the grounds for a refusal, Your fault not hers!  It sounds like you are doing all the right things to correct the problems you are having and if it is working to YOUR SATISFACTION! I say stick with it!  If she knows the command and is not obeying once again BACK UP AND REINFORCE YOU MEAN BUSINESS IT"S YOU THAT IS ALFA!! not her!  Good luck and I am loving these updates and I am sure your hunting buddy is going to be all you want her to be!!!  P.S. Congrats on your progress! you should be proud!
