Does anyone have recommendations or a place I can find the info I need on the combinations below for a 7mm REM MAG?

Bullet:SPEER HOT-COR 175 grain
Powder:RELOADER 22 or IMR 4831.

Bullet: SIERRA GAMEKING 175 grain SP
Powder: RELOADER 22 or IMR 4831.

Thanks!

Both Alliant (Reloder 22) and Hodgdon (IMR 4831) have reloading data on their websites for 175 grain bullets. I didn't look at mine but I would think ALL reloading manuals would have data for those powders and 175 grain bullets.

it just so happens that I was reading an article in the American Rifleman  magazine this morning about the 7mm Rem Mag.  It gives one load for the 175 grainbullet.   Its a Nosler Partition with 62.5 grains of reloader22  for a muzzle velocity of 2840 fps.

Hi there,.. I don't drop in to the NAHC all that often anymore but I noticed your post regarding my favorite firearm caliber and stopped in to see what it was all about. Might I suggest that you nix the 175 grain projectile and lean towards the 160 grain weight class. The bullet preforms better out of the 7mm Mag and has an equal if not superior flight characteristics and kill energy. I've been reloading this caliber for some 30+ years now and my rifle shoots its best using the Hornady 162 grain BTSP projectile sitting on top of the Reloader# 22 powder. Every rifle will shoot different based on the shooter, rifle and a half dozen other factors but for the standard rifle twist on a 7mm Mag they function much better accuracy wise and consistency using a 160 weight class projectile.

Just some info for you to think about,.. check the stats on any trajectory / energy chart and you'll see I'm correct in what I'm telling you,..

My Vanguard loves Nosler 160 gr Accubonds over Reloader 22, however there was a pretty nice Wisconsin 140 class 10 point that didn't like it so much last year when he dropped in his tracks

I have always saved my 7mmMag's for heavier bullets, and shoot the lighter ones (150gr & below) in my 7x57's. The 7Mag makes good use of the heavier bullets. I have some 160gr Accubonds sitting on my desk as I type this waiting to be loaded up and tried out.

I shoot 168 berger vld with RL 22 through my remington 700 bdl. I followed their bullet seating depth test they recommend and can shoot a .35 inch group at 100 yards, unsure of the velocity but sure hits mule deer like Thors hammer. Give the VLD's a try, I highly recommend them. My secondary load is the trusty old partition 160.

I used IMR 4831 out of the Nosler hand book, I was using Nosler partition bullets and Speer 175 and 150 grain bullets. My gun like them and the load.

Also, i just sold my 7 mm mag and have boxes of reloads of 175 gr Nolser partition bullets and in the 150. Die set , and several boxes of brass if you or anyone else is interested. email me for the list of pricing. whneib1@charter.net
