Does anyone hunt the Black River State Forest area or the surrounding Jackson or Clark County forests?  I'm considering buying land in this area, but not enough to hunt on, so I would have to rely on the public lands for hunting.  There seems to be plenty of deer in this part of the state, I'm just wondering about the hunting pressure durring rifle season.  Some pressure is good to get deer moving, but I'd hate to see more orange than anything else.  I was previously looking in the Adams-Friendship area, posted in April this year but that deal fell through.  Any info would be great.
Thanks.

Been hunting that area for the past 15 years. Love the area, a lot of deer. Hunting pressure is very heavy during the opening weekend of gun season, but you can find areas that are less pressured if your willing to work a little harder to get in and out. The nice thing about that area is there is no shortage of public land to hunt so if you do find a lot of pressure in one area you can move to another. Good luck with your decision. We hunt out of Hatfield, and mostly hunt in the county forest land within 10-20 miles of Hatfield, both in Clark and Jackson counties.
