Well that is great news..  I've extended my life a long time.

It is fun to watch the smile on a young person's face when you show them how to shoot a muzzlelaoder.  We used to go to a friends cabin in the woods.  We'd have a big outdoor cook out over the wood fire, tell lots of lies, and shoot rifle for days. They'd bring their kids.  And them little buggers would go through a pound of my powder shooting roundball.  We'd always supervise, but they'd load up and shoot targets all day.  One little guy was so small he had to rest the rifle on the cabin's porch rail because he could not hold the rifle up.  But when it came his turn to shoot again, he was all smiles.

What a great way to teach kids about guns in general. They learn gun safety and how to shoot. But it seems to me they also learn more about how the gun works when you show them with a muzzle loader. Since you put in each of the pieces seperately you can teach them what each piece does. Then later you could maybe show them a shotgun shell and a rifle cartridge (bullet). It would be so much easier to understand those things after shooting your muzzleloader.

I have a grandson who is 2.5 year old. I will have to keep that in mind. Thanks for sharing.

I have let other people at the range shoot mine.  I'll hear  them make a comment and load it up and tell them to go for it.  The reactions are precious.  They smile. Ask 'Are you serious". Even for strangers at the range.  It's fun to watch or see them smile at being able to shoot something they havent had an opportunity to shoot before.  I done that with my M-1 Garand too.

shooting time with the grand kids and friends is a great way to spend a day! My grandfather helped me to become an avid hunter and fisherman because he took the time to work with me at the range and in in the woods and stream side. I will always cherish those times that pap spent with me. Keep up the great tradition!
