kpike9; Thats a good question. I get drawn almost every time I apply. I drew for 7E The last week of Nov. 1st week of Dec. for bull elk with my nephews and brother in law. 34 A usedd to be a pretty good unit for whitetail. It's been years since Ive hunted there. Good luck on your hunt.

I have applied for cow tags every time I've put in an application. I haven't ever drawn a cow tag. Just bull tags. I'd be just as happy with a cow tag. Meat is meat. They probably taste better also. Now that I've said that. I'll probably draw a cow tag from now on. I just reread your posts. That's the same time as my hunt also. |

Hello, I just finished up a Unit 6A Sept. bow hunt. That was my first Bull Elk bow hunt. The bull were talking but not coming to the calls, so we tried to get close to them. Got within 15 yds of several bulls, but had my eyes set on one bull. I did get close to him but never had a shot. Seems they would hide and wait on you to close to see what was following them, then step out with only half their face looking at you, then they were gone. I had blast on this hunt and hope I can do it again soon. |

Sorry for the slow response Kpike9; I was out of town unexpectedly. I have put in all over for both bull and cow archery and rifle. To be quite honest the last two years I finally just gave up, it has been a frustrating waist of time and money. |

Don't give up yet. One time. It took me eight years to get drawn for elk. It took me eighteen to get drawn for speedgoat. I heard that. I'm 60 now. The only thing I've got on the wall is the speedgoat. Maybe I'll get a trophy elk this year. It's a let down when you don't bag anything. It's not all that bad if you at least saw animals. And had a good time while you were at it. You didn't bring anything home but memories. It's something. It lasts longer than the meat does. |

No draw tags for me. Picked up a leftover 36B tag but didn't even bother to go - was a long fire season. Just got BP for turkey, general tag in 42/44a for javelina. Just put in to pick up a 2nd javelina tag for HAM in 17A. Getting dialed in for archery deer in a couple weeks. I hunt the desert W and SW of Phx. Pretty partial to hunting in a t-shrt in Dec/Jan, especially after growing up in Wy. |

I got skunked again this year. My brother in law got a 5x5. One of my nephews got a 5x6. They were huge. I had them take the elk to Pioneer in Flag for butchering. My brother in law got almost 500 pounds of meat back. My nephew got a little over 400 pounds. He lost the entire backstrap and ribs on the hill side. |

Pioneer in Flag, does ok with the Butchering, but they will never touch another mount of mine. I had one mounted there paid more to get the bugling mount with nose up and head turned with broke antler to the wall. Antlers as close to back as possible. I get the mount head is straight forward antlers as high as they could get them. I am still very pissed about it.
