For those that might be looking for an economical meat grinder for their home sausage shop, I have been field tesing a Weston Realtree 650 watt meat grinder for the NAHC and Stuff-Stuff field test program.  I have done a number of batches of summer sausage, jerky and snack sticks.  This unit works very well and grinds through 10 pound batches of meat in no time.  It has been holding up well, is easy to clean and for the price, I don't think you could go wrong trying this unit.  I would recommend this grinder to anyone who is looking for a good quality unit that is economical.

Remember, you have to post your review on the SS site and posting pics get you more points.

What were you grinding? Venison? I have a home grade grinder and it gets "goobered" up when grinding up the shoulder meats that have all of the connective tissue. How'd it handle that?

Steve,

Yes, I was doing mostly venison.  I did not have any issue with clogging on any of the cuts of meat that I used the grinder for.

Lucky Dog. Not only a free grinder BUT an electric one at that!!!!! I still use a hand grinder without any issues except a little soreness the next day if I was grinding a lot of meat. I check from time to time with a place that deals in used restaurant/butcher shop stuff. Haven't found anything that fits my meager finances. But then again I'm looking for something 220VAC. But then I have EVERYTHING else for making and smoking sausage and being on SSD I could pick up a few extra $$$$$ making sausage and jerky for other hunters. I recently did a batch of goose sausage sticks for the guy next door I liked it but more importantly he was blown away by it.

The field testing program is really a good deal. Just wondering, I have heard a lot of folks talking about making goose jerky and sticks. Do you have a good recipe for your goose sticks to try? Thanks much
