I rolled up my sleeping bag for the final time when the zipper gave out late last week.  It has been several decades since the last time I purchased a bag so I have no idea what is out there and I need to get a bag immediately for a hunting trip at the end of this week.

I primarily use a sleeping bag in deer camp but also use it for late spring and summer camping in northern Ontario where the night time temperatures often get down into the high 30s.  Occasionally I hunt out west but always in a heated cabin or tent.  My old bag was warm but a bit bulky so would like something a bit easier to pack.   I also need to be able to pick up the bag at Cabelas or Gander Mountain, or even wally world.  Anybody have suggestions?

I would/will suggest one of the Army's ECWS sleeping bags as you can add and takeoff the different layering's to accomadate your surroundings but you most likely will have to buy it from a military surplus store. They are a bit high priced but you are getting the best available for our soldiers in the cold temps they must sleep in.

Go to any dry cleaners and have a new zipper put on lots cheaper than a new one. I have a bag I got from an Uncle that came from the Korean War its had several zipper replacement. It is kinda bulky but in zero temp keeps me cozy. He also gave me his cold weather(Korea again) flying suit keeps me toasty ice fishing so mush so on some days I have to take it off.
