Not really wild game cooking but it was the closest to the subject...  garlic has to do with cooking right?

For those of you close enough, the Hudson Valley Garlic Festival in Saugraties, NY is next weekend.
Sat and Sun from 10 to 6, and 10 to 5 respectively.

If the weather's nice, and it's supposed to be gorgeous as of now, you can expect around 25 thousand people visiting per day. We get there at 10 or shortly after and are outta there by 12 or 1 at the latest.

They have a lot of things going on through out the day.  We just checkout the crafts, I always buy a ton of garlic as I get it to plant and also enough to last us the winter until mine's ready the following June or early July.  (we happen to love garlic) then we wander the midway and grab some stuff to eat, followed by some garlic ice cream of course... (don't cringe... it ain't nuthin' like you'd think)

Anyhow, if anyone's close enough, checkout the link and if you're goin' drop a line and we can meet up and say hi if you're there on Saturday.

edit:  OH, the only drawback is no alcohol on the gounds, period. But that's not all that bad.

FYI did you know garlic repels snakes. For those of you living in areas where venomous snakes can be a problem for family and pets(the other family) plant garlic around the perimeter of your property. Wehn you cut the flower heads off crush them and spread on the ground.

Hm, there what I learned today. Didn't know that.   Don't have any around where I live. It's pretty urban. We do have some outside the cities but nothing really to get shook about if you pay attention.

And I'm glad too 'cause I'd hate to waste the scapes (flower chutes) that way... they're some good eats. At least they are on the hardneck varieties (there all I grow) - not sure about soft necks.

All I know is I'm gonna reek of garlic by Sat afternoon!  Yum

Thanks, gutpile. I didn't know that, either. I will have to share that with my daughter. Her yard butts up to a field, and we are always finding snakes around her house. They like her front step. And she hates them!

Steve, i know your area- plenty of snakes (the two legged vareity) - hmm maybe it will still be of some use against the blood sucking legal types - not many venomous ones ; )
