Southern Michigan is having a bad year this year due to Epizootic Hemorrhagic Disease, or EHD.
So far we have around 4000 dead deer reported dying from this disease. The transmission of EHD to deer is via a Culicoides biting fly or midge.
My hunting buddy called me today and told me that he went out fishing and found a really large 9 point dead next to the edge of the river that he was fishing. He was telling me that it had a wide rack with some really tall tines. The kind of deer you dream about when you’re out hunting. Boy, what a waste!!!
Any other states out there having to deal with this kind of problem?
They said that this is a bad year for it because of the hot dry summer that we had.
