Was a great weekend in the Minnesota state forest for black bear. Saturday night we finally had a nice boar come in for the last time, and then Sunday morning the neighbor in Wisconsin shot a beautiful boar dressed out at 438 whopping pounds.  Then tonight the other neighbor Minnesota side finally got himself a bear too after a long 3 week hunt he stayed in the woods. I'll post some pics for you all to see here. This weekend was also the opener for whitetail archery, although I had a nice buck little spike buck, come in with two does they just managed to stay out of bow range. Hopefully next weekend they may stop by and come in a bit closer.

thanks this was the first time we ate black bear. I actually really enjoyed it. I thought it was better than beef. Although all we ate so far was the ribs there were pretty darn amazing. We did the processing ourselves though and I heard that you need to get rid of most of the fat or taste terrible. I also heard that if you boil the meat and then can it and use it in stews is the best thing to do with it. But I kept the back straps and a few roast and cut some steaks the rest is getting made into ground bear.
