Those do work but the bungee material will wear out in time making a loose fit in a couple years . Went to pop up and see through now . |

I've used flip-ups since I was a kid. Thing I don't understand about these is what if it's raining or snowing? Flip-ups protect against that, don't see how these can? |

Very simple, they protect your scope lenses, rain or snow does not get to your scope lens, the yellow is like wearing shooting glasses. |

Well, I understand that but then the rain/snow is simply on the shoot thru covers which seems like it would be zero benefit over having the rain/snow on the actual lens. With flipups, it get's out of the way and you're looking through a clear, unobstructed lens |

My flip ups are see through and in those conditions open is the way to go for the clear shot , but got a couple when it happened fast in the thick stuff . |

I personally like the military style honeycomb scope sun shades. |

I have see through scope covers and IMO they are pretty darn good. I have had flip ups that froze down and needed an extra tap to open and in that time lost sight of the deer, but at the same time I have had freezing rain blur the vision so badly on see through covers that I could not see as well. Any other weather condition and see throughs work for me. See through pop ups? Hmmmm I like that the best!

I have the black plastic flip ups. I don't even put the eyepiece one on. The objective cover stays open unless it's raining, snowing, etc. I'm still not grasping how the shoot through covers help in bad weather... |

holly, the stuff people put on mirrors to keep them from fogging in the shower works well with see throughs |

Had a set of the ones here and as noted the cords stretched over time and they would not stay in place so I trashed them and I don't use anything now. I know a lot of scopes come with directions to NOT put anything on the lens but I use Rain-X on mine and it works great. I usually have to refresh it about every 2 years but otherwise it works great and it also works on glasses. I have several friends that have the usual problems with their glasses fogging up and the Rain-X stops that as well. Give it a try but make sure when applying it to not use to much and after applying be sure and buff the lenses with a good lens cloth. |
