It was suggested once again I move this post, this time to this TN section:

I just got home from Afghanistan yesterday and found a permit for an ML hunt at Catoosa WMA in TN on the table. I'm stationed in NC and won't have a chance to scout before I head over for the hunt.

Can anyone offer suggestions on where to hunt during the NOV 15-17 hunt? I'll have a NULA 209 muzzleloader and a TreeSaddle sling stand so I can hunt as mobile or static as I need to. I just need help narrowing down an area so I can get imagery and maps.

If you don't want to post it in the forum feel free to PM me. Thanks for any help.

Thanks for your tour of service and welcome back to the States! Where Otter Creek Rd crosses west to east, it breaks up several smaller finger roads headed north and northeast toward the river. A couple of miles into it from the west side the road does a big loop to its north, meaning a smaller road breaks off and loops around coming back down to the Otter Rd. I'd suggest you take that or one of the other dead-end finger roads to the north. There are several large clear-cuts or burns up there giving plenty of good edge. Park real early in the morning and head north toward the river into the woods a few hundred yds from any of the cleared fields and set up along some ridge or hollow trail. When the others get into the hunt as the sun rises they will hammer the fields pretty hard and the experienced bucks will be heading into the woods. You will be up there between field and water in the woods on the trails. But, Catoosa is good all over and has a lot of hogs as well so you will be well situated no matter where you sit to catch a sight of something.

Thanks much. That is actually an area I had picked out from my map recon. I'll let you know how it goes.

Catoosa has elk and I think a small population of Fallow are there as well so make sure what you are shooting at and what is legal on your particular hunt. They also have hogs but I don't think they are legal except on some quota hunts and their main January season. Have a great hunt!
