I just wanted to introduce my self and say hello to all my Life Members brothers and sisters and may the good Lord bless your hunting season. My name is J. L. Hightower and I live in Oklahoma where the deer are plentiful and come in all sizes. I am a dedicated bow hunter and a second admendment true believer and supporter. I shoot high power and small bore rifles competively and do not hunt deer with a rifle anymore, I feel there is not a challenge in it and by bow hunting the playing field is equal in my eyes and diffently a challange. I am ready for October 1st to get here but only hope and pray the weather is good and nothing like last years warm days. Again I wanted to say hey and tell everyone to be safe in your hunting travels and in the woods and may God bless you and yours!

Yep, welcome; but if you lived in my part of the country and depended on that bow, you'd never get any meat!!!!!!!

Thats the nice thing about having other means to gather if nessacary, but I do understand what you mean about certain geographical locations can make it almost impossible to gather with a bow. Good hunting this year!

Kanuna65, we're probably on the same page. I don't argue with anyone over their choice of hunting methods, and I'd probably try out archery; but my strokes and Parkinsons won't let me pull a bow any more. Years ago, I shot archery strictly as a hobby and only at targets. Hell, even when shooting a rifle or shotgun these days I need to have some type of gun rest just to hold the damn thing still!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you rthomas, I have had to lower my draw poundage down to 55 due to old injuries saying hello now days. Getting older does bring on limitaions with out a doubt. Great to hear you are not letting anything get in your way of shooting. My dad has just recovered from West Nyle virus and should not still be with us but the good Lord is not ready for him yet. I did get him to shoot bench small bore a couple weeks ago and now he is pump after being down for so long not shooting. We have a match this weekend so I keep him into it by being my instructor in shooting high power then after our high power match we shoot small bore. Hell I have to try and get all the knowledge he has in shooting while I still have him. We soot twice a month and I just started shooting the military bolt bench matches useing an A3O3 and then the next match I shoot postion NRA sanctioned and I shoot a M1 Grand he won ove 25 years ago. I shoot a military 1940's trainning rifle Stevens for my small bore. But thats what me and my dad do for the father son thing and now I am his student in loading. Dad has been shooting for over 35 years compitive and me for 5 years. I do pretty good I guess. Thats one reason I do not rifle hunt now, not much of a challenge in my eyes but bow hunting is like more than a challenge. Last year is the first I never harvested one. but I am ready this year.

Hang in there and keep shooting and hunting in any manner you can, if my body keeps up giving me problems I will most likely end up going to a cross bow. I have also though about black powder hunting. I like trying to stay traditional. God bless you and yours!
