It's a little late but I thought I would start a thread to see how everybody has done so far.
I recently introduced my new Son-in-law to bow hunting. He is a modern firearm defector. So early Saturday morning we get set up in a blind that has been having a 2 and a 4 point visit daily. About 7:30 we decide they have the day off so we head towards my honey hole. The boy spots 4 deer up on a ridge so I let him do the stalk. He gets a shot off downhill at 40yards and shoots low, nothing but dust. I tell him not to worry and we head out, seeing a beautiful 3 point, 3 does and 4 big fawns. We both drool as we pass them by, maybe next year. We see about 20 more big Doe's within 15 min, so I tell the boy to get ready. There's an orchard ahead and he should have time to pick a good shooter. As we round the bend there's 5 Does grazing and 2 more on there hind legs picking apples. They barely look at us and go back to eating. He pulls back and lets one loose severing an artery and dropping her within 12 yards. She was completely dead in 5 minutes. As a bigger Doe goes to see what's up I let one fly and opened up a lung. Doe down in 20 yards. Filled two tags by 8:30 am opening day. Now it's the high buck with my son and off to get a bigger freezer. FYI I let him be in both pictures and my son is next to them hanging.

Congratulations to your son-in-law.  They're all trophies in my eyes, and he deserves to be pleased with his success.

Good luck to you and your your son. And to you too, Patrick.

nice does they will taste really good. We had some luck for mule deer. My friend shot a doe and my other other hunting buddy got a nice 3x3. I killed a 3x3 but he ran about 1500 yards with an arrow in his chest and a second through his throat. We couldn't track him through the 8-10 foot tall sage brush he ran through but found him a couple days later with the crows pecking at him.

just a shame i wasnt able to harvest the meat. I did have time to go for king salmon and caught a few skip jacks on the nisqually. Then it was elk camp. Got a nice look at a 5x5 bull from 40 yards but those are off limits. Saw a few cows at 100 yards and one at 80 that came in from 300 yards and then decided to turn around. me and my son with the fish. he kept asking if we eat the eyes.

You might be able to catch the end of the Coho run during that time depending on what river system. Usually in december there is a good run winter steelhead everywhere

Looks like you had a full trip. Too bad about the meat but those suckers can be elusive. It should make for a good head mount. Beautiful catch. Silvers are just starting to get good down here but I havn't had a chance to get at them.

Ill be fishing the snoqualmie river, skykomish, kalama and cowlitz during that time. I know the cowlitz produces well during december. The Skookemchuk as well.
