Hey Kansas,
I'll be hunting Kansas with a crossbow this archery season and was wondering if it is legal in Kansas to hunt with a scope on a crossbow?  I have a 3 pin sight on it now but have been thinking of switching to a scope but will not do it unless it is Kansas legal.  I'm ok with the pins, just looking to be better.
Thanks

I have not read anything in the regulations about any restrictions on the crossbow. There is on bolt length 16" I believe. I have just orderd a Bowtech Stryker 380 that I plan on using this season, it will have a scope on it. If you're hesitant you can call kdwpt and the can reassure you. You can also visit their web sight kdwpt.ks.us.gov they have regulations available online. kdwpt has made crossbows legal for youth under 16 and anyone over 55 to use a crossbow for archery season. The state legislature passed a bill for a trial period of 2 yrs. for anyone to use a crossbow in units 1, 12,15, & 19.

Your subject line said rifle scope. I would suggest putting one made for crossbows. Most of them have multiple reticle for different yardages and some can be set for the poundage of your bow. Good luck.

Thank you Bpearce,
I know I said rifle scope because I could not think of a name for a crossbow scope.....pretty stupid huh?  I was recently looking at a scope for a crossbow on one of the online sites but didn't realize they were setup specifically for crossbows.  Makes buying one even more compelling.
Have you done enough research to recommend a specific scope.  I shoot an older Excalibur (no cams)  at around 350 fps.  The scope that caught my attention was around $49.
Good luck with your new Stryker 380.  I have never shot any other crossbow but mine is very accurate and powerful.  I am the second owner, bought it from a friend about 4 years ago.
BTW, I am over 55 and could get a doctor's letter if needed due to a shoulder issue.  I'm hunting units 10 and 11.
