So I wonder how this compares to other technical files. Does instructions on how to miodify fiorearms, build other types of firearms by other means than 3D printers violate this?

Online blueprint for 3D gun violates export law, US says. Too late now

In http://us.lrd.yahoo.com/_ylt=AnC4lc...istributed" target="_blank"> a letter sent to Mr. Wilson, the department’s Office of Defense Trade Controls Compliance said he must remove all data and files “from public access immediately” due to restrictions under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

3D printers have been around for a good while, you just never heard of them.  There are already 3D metal printers.  The statement that technology is advancing faster than  society can keep up with pretty much sums it up.

The printers could have been licensed and controlled but it's too late at this point. H*77, even Jeff Dunham has been making dummies with them for a while, don't think the bigtime crooks don't have 'em already?

And this is only the stuff that we now KNOW about. Can you imagine what's in the wings?

Man who used 3-D printer to create gun hopes efforts can 'destroy the spirit of gun control itself'

Cody Wilson gave away the plans for free on the Internet. The 25-year-old, who thinks the NRA supports too much firearm control, believes Sandy Hook parents are exploiting their victimization in pushing for gun restrictions.
