So yall enlighten this dumb Southern Boy....why was chasing wolves with hounds even included in the first place???? Wolves protecting a territory have come to "bay" sites of Mountain Lion and Bear in ID, MT and WY and wiped out the whole hunting hound pack.....WTF yall thinking? You don't like hounds???

Hatfield, I am happy you got a season but don't give me a load of cheese about living in TN and not having Wolves.....all I said was it was a dumb idea to include dogging them in first place! What I said about packs of hounds being killed by wolves in ID, MT and WY while Cat or Bear hunting is fact!
I hope the "dogging" issue does not fugg your wolf season up!
What do I know about wolf hunting??? How bout one skin and one mount in my house! Now draw a tag and go kill a fuggin wolf without having your pooch killed!! |

Coons get them in middle of creek , climb on their head and drown them----still got scars from saving a B&T....Wolves see them as competitors and kill them for fun because they can and will! |

yes i know , been there done that just wondering where do we draw the line, they also get killed from bear and cougar hunting. i lost a dog duck hunting, got in some mud and couldnt get out and i couldnt get to him, lost a horse the same way in that marsh, if i were to wolf hunt i would want dogs, more for the reason of possibly protecting me |

Think I heard y'all's wolf season opened with a bang....or was that MN??? Anyway, four within first 48 hours! A dog or two ain't gonna be much help in protecting you from wolves, you gonna have to run in and protect them! Been there on Bear and Hawgs in E TN mountain....pulled out needle and thread and still lost a few. I have had dawgs get stuck in LA mud a cuppla times but we had pirouges and got them out. |

I'm with Tom's logic on this, dogs would more likely draw an attack than to discourage one from wolves. So unless your using your dog as a decoy for your escape, don't think it would help you much other than buy you time, which could be debatable considering if it it's an entire pack then they are worked up over the fight and feeding on the dog you could end up being targeted while the dog is still balling, being disembowelled and eaten alive. I would think that if the dogs got onto a single wolf, it would probably lead them straight to an ambush. Heard of coyotes doing this to a large german shepherd, the owner stood there wathing the shepherd gaining on the coyote thinking the dog was going to wipe out a problem coyote, then 2 more coyotes came out of the brush and ambushed the dog, fight didn't last very long and he lost a good dog. Not saying it won't work for ya'll but could end up costly not only in time and money, but could lose good friends too. Good luck. |
