Went lsat night after work to pick up our licenses and tags for this coming year season.  Now the area I live and hunt in is Delaware county ( 4 0) . Have lived and hunted here all my life. The state decided this year to make it an antler resticted area with 3 points per side. Dont like it but can live with it. Go to apply for my dmp to take a doe. Area this year requires a p.point to apply. Have 3 points for the last 3 yrs that I have been denied for .Apply those points and guess what DENIED again. My friend applies for his and is denied also and he had 2 points already. Now here is what really ticks me off. we standing there talking to the shop owner and he is doing another customer and the gentleman applys for our area just so he can get the point for next yr and guess what Gets his permit. Im a land owner and own 125 acres and cant even get a DMP to shoot a doe. Im really getting feed up with NYS.

Going to get my license on the way home from work today.  We'll see what I get for DMP's.  I usually get two for my area, 7H.

If you are a land owner and you can prove you own more than 50 acres you should automatically get a permit no?

Charles that what I thought. Showed a copy of my tax map paper work and along with school tax bill, and Still get declined.Have the day off today so am making a trip up to region 4 office in Stamford to get some answers. Bad enough now that they put antler restriction in my area and now cant even get a DMP as a landowner and have pp's to boot.

Typical example of what happens when politicians get involved with harvest regulations.  These decisions should be made by biologists and science, not politicians.  Younger generation of new hunters are watching too much of the outdoor channel to get their hunter training.  They think you should plant more fields with magical grass to grow big antlers and shoot them from towers and perches in tree tops.  Old school meat hunters will soon become a thing of the past and "Hunting" will be redefined.
