Hey, from NY State!
 Just finished watching "Destination Whitetail" on the Sportsman Channel.  It featured the Alabam Hunting Dog Assoc doing a deer hunt with dogs.  I've read about hunting deer that way, but seeing the show was of course better, even if only 1/2 hour.  Liked how they got the kids involved.  So now, thanks to the show, I have another way of hunting deer to try out!!

Deer hunting with dogs is the traditional method used here in the SC lowcountry since the Native Americans lived here. These days, it is becoming a lost hunting form, due to outside the state pressure, and the fact that the upstate region isn't allowed to use dogs. We are fighting back with every thing we can to keep our traditional way of hunting alive, but the out of state hunters with deep pockets are buying up all of the land rights and squeezing us out. At the rate they're going, we won't have any land left to hunt, unless we own it ourselves.

I know the same thing is happening in South Georgia and North Florida, so maybe it's a problem in parts of Alabama, also.
