I was wondering if someone out there may provide some info. I recently inherited a .22 rifle from a relative of mine, but it came without a magazine. This is the info on the firearm: Model 60 * Cal. 22 LR * No. 278.28180, Sears Roebuck and C. * Made in Canada. I went to my local gun shop to inquire about a magazine and they essentially informed me that they could not help me and I was in possession of a "neat little single-shot rifle that will eject the casing after each shot". I was hoping that someone in the NAHC community might know where I could get one. As of right now it is an interestly large paperweight.
Thanks, Richard Hodges

Your Sears model 60 was actually manufactured by Cooey as the model 64. They were originally known as the H.W. Cooey Machine and Arms Co. LTD of Cobourg, Ontario from 1903-1061. In 1961 they were sold to Olin who then manufactured the guns by Winchester Canada through the mid 1970's. Your model was manufactured during the Winchester period. I am unable to locate any information about subsequent Winchester model #s that may be compatible with your rifle. There are several Winchester models listed that used box type magazines but none that indicate a manufacture date of mid to late 70's.

I'd suggest a letter of inquiry providing the information and if possible a picture be sent by you to Winchester, which may be able to provide you with more information. If that doesn't work out, you may be able to locate a gun smith in your area who could fabricate a magazine for you. You also might send a pm to shiloh or Mr.VJP and see if they can give you more info or possibly lead you to a source.

Sorry, I can't provide you with more information.

I talked to my friend and he said winchester could have made that model# for a few year and that it is quite possible that a newer magazine would fit. he said model 65 made a 10 round clip in the 70/s But he would locate one of his older books and see what else he could fined. He also agreed with one other fellow on here to try mid-way USA they supply all kinds of service for people, good luck and I will let you know how he makes out.

I checked with a magazine dealer at a gun show today, and he mentioned a guy in S. Florida who might also be able to help. He thought the man is on the internet under the name of Dick's Guns.

Try a marlin magazine. I had the same problem with my dads old bolt action Sears and Robuck/J.C. Higgins.

If you don't want it, I will take it off your hands, because my brother got my dads, and it was a nail driver out to 75 yds with open sights. My number is 660-864-5986.

You can try http://www.e-gunparts.com as they also have a crosscheck menu that will match your particular model rifle with another where the magazine will work in both.
