I have a question for all of you great hunters out there.  I'm newly getting into goose hunting (canada goose), my questions is....anyone know of any great places to buy inexpensive decoys.  I can't afford to drop a lot of money on these things....

 

Herters, they are cheap can be used on dry ground or on water. Downfall is that they are not very pretty. I have killed a good number of geese over mine in the past years. I still use them mostly because I am a cheapa$$ myself, and I don't want to spend the money for 4-6 for the same price I can get a dozen.

The last 8 full body goose decoys I bought were saved by a friend who works at the dump... just for me when family dumped their deceased old mans decoys...cost me $20 as a tip for Jackie saving them for me....

Try Craigs List and ebay. Sometimes you can get bargain decoys. Also watch the estate sales and auctions and the classified section of the newspaper.

I would recommend Hardcore Full body Decoys. If you shop around you can buy them for around $100/6 pack. They have the toughest paint on the market (3 year garentee on paint).

No matter how you cut it goose hunting is expensive. For Canadas I never go with less than four dozen dekes and I know guys who use twice that many. I also do a lot of what I call ambush hunting. I'll find resevoirs small lakes where birds spend the night and then set up in the dark up wind and wait for them to fly out to their feeding areas.

Check out Roger's Sporting Goods. They usually have some pretty good deals on decoys; and other things too.

Check ebay and craigs list. If you don't mind painting them yourself look for some old ratty ones.My friend got some old bigfeet that looked like junk and repainted them and they look great.

Duckbuster is right. Rogers Sporting Goods is about the best place to find deals on decoys, shells, and clothing.

The sportsman guide sells some nice goose decoys for $80 a dozen. Their are soft full body on a stick.
