With the idiots that are hunting around my county YEAR ROUND they keep vanishing. I was out clearing trails on my farm and came across a blind that I have never seen before. I have even been turkey hunting and watched a guy walk through my field with a turkey.. He was busted real quick though. I have bright yellow signs every 10 ft surrounding my 75 acres as well as posted signs that I have cameras posted but they walk right past the cameras.. With the angle and height of the cameras im not getting good face shots but they are carrying guns and the most recent was just 2 weeks ago and there ARE NO OPEN SEASONS not, not to mention only my cousin and I have hunting rights per my grandmother who owns the land. We carry notarized cards because it is to the point where game wardens are trying to help as well due to finding deer remains in the field as well as atv tracks in the off season.
Any help would be amazing. Thanks everyone

Ya go to your game wardens and say HEY enough is enough!! then ask them to get one of the motorized deer decoys that most states have and set up a sting operation on your place...If the locals won't help then go straight to the guys in your state capital and put up a stink there as well...then get your state local Out door news magazine to write an article about the problem of poaching in the state....I had a problem and did just that...then got up at 3am opening day and got dressed...went out and sat right near where they walked in...waited until they cleared the culvert ditch and was in the woods...then yelled out nice and clear in the dark....hey F...Nut..I'm going to have you arrested by 7am...all I heard was..crunch crunch crunch...hop over culvert and guns being unloaded....these guys were from a camp next door...I went to work...got home and their place had a for sale sign on it.. I still have problems but not near as bad as it use to be...in fact I have a call to make here in a week to take care of a new problem......I'm on a clean up mission again this year...Good Luck |

I hear ya, I wish you the best of luck as well. The biggest issue is I know who it is because he used to always ask my grandmother to sell him the rights to hunt and then boom... Fed's show up and nail him for 60000 dollars in marijuana and he got 6 months probation and still has his guns after being a convicted felon. The sheriff said it was ok if he only hunted with them. Sorry but no. He's got them on the payroll im sure and thats probably why he is still doing what he wants. BUT if my cousin and I find him it's gonna be ugly because we work hard all off season to make sure plots are taken care of stands are good trails are cleared and for him to keep on doing this. It's a pure kick in the groin. I'll keep you posted, and let me know if you need anymore voices cause ill back ya up from eastern KY. |

The first post. I would place a few cams up to catch the trespassers.
The third post. I would let the word out that man is a narc. |

mcpherson how tall is a deer? How tall is a poacher? Wonder if something like skunk spray could be in a supersoaker and spray anything taller than a deer that walked down the path ..... |

I would do what Badger said and get up really early, or when ever it is they are showing up on ur cameras and wait it out, If they show up then you bust them right there on the spot dont let them get away. If it was me I would be protecting my Life, Liberty and Property by any means necessary if you know what Im saying. But thats just me. Hope you bag those A$$h@les! |

Go dig up some of his crops and replant them on your property close to the property line. Then call the DEA and report that you saw him tending to his plants that he planted on your land!!! Don't mess with the local cops, at all!!!!!!!! |

@rthomas, I'd be afraid the idiot would be waiting on someone to come into his crop. theres always vehicles in and out of the treeline and the field so i'd say people help him. I'm thinking about going to the DEA cause he's convicted and shouldn't have a gun. @Badger has an awesome idea especially since he is going through it as well @candy... I'd throw up if I smelled it lol |

We had the same thing happen on our land in Pennsylvania. Basically I sat down there after work or school everyday and waited for people to drive down the road or trespass and then I called PAGC who put an end to the tresspassers. Good luck |

do what we did to stop them from coming on my familys farm. find out where there bringing their atvs across and get you a 1x6 and drive it full of 20 penny nails just be sure to sharpen them with a grinder before you drive them in so they will be really sharp and dig a hole just big enough to cover the board up and put a bridge board nail in it to hold it in the ground when they run over it. if there walking in do the same thing just put more out. it might sound mean to do it but if you were going over on there land they would do the same to you or worse.it might take a while but eventualy when they get tired of pluging there tires they will quit.or find a new trail but if they do just repeat. also where in se kentucky are you from i live in harlan. |

Wonder if anyone has nightvision equipment that you might let camp out for a night or 2 right in the general area the tresspassers use. Hmmmmmmmm I love camping and have nightvision equipment! Only semi joking there. I had to do something like that before when poachers and a wanna be potgrower decided my land was out of the way and they needed it. Placed trip wires where they entered, trips wires to 12 ga primers. Went camping ( dropped off and backpacked in from the other side ) and stayed up with nightvision. I HEARD them before I saw them. I guess half a dozen 12 ga primers going BANG after midnight and then spotlights coming on did they trick since they never came back. |

hey nmcpherson1, how'd you make out? I wouldn't advise the nails, they could sue, and win, due to you intentionally creating a hazardous condition. Doesn't matter if they're trespassing or not, that's a no-no. Just like rigging a 12 ga. to go off pointed at a door when it's opened... big time no-no. I do like SteelCandy's idea though.... |

You can buy 12 ga primer trip wires for about $20 or you can make them yourself using standard mouse traps and a little work ( it's trickier to set the mousetrap trip wire though )

To keep yourself from getting into trouble, you really need to just set up and try to be their when you think they are going to come. Carry a set of binoculors so you can read liscence plate numbers. Or be able to give a better discription of the person and vehicle to the game warden when you call. I spent one season doing this crap more than I did hunting. The guy wouldn't quit hunting the property no matter what I said to him. I got so mad, that I seriously thought about setting bear traps where he was going in and out. That would just escalade into me going to jail for a very long time. I set up one morning, where he was parking his truck, and waited till he got their. Then phoned the game wardens regional office, and they took my number and said they would have a warden in the area phone me back. It took no time before he called. He basically wanted an address, discription of vehicle and whatever else I could give him. It took him about 20 min. to arrive. I never had to do anything else. He pulled up by the guys vehicle and went in after him. My heart was pounding as if I were fixing to shoot a world record! I was still hiding out watching. I can't imagine how those officers feel. They both finally came out of the woods and stood by the vehicles for a pretty good while talking. I don't know what he did or said to him, but I haven't seen him on the property since. The next day, I followed the trail where the man was going in and found a nice lock on stand. It was in a good spot, so I left it their to hunt out of. That is the quickest way that I know to get something done about it legally. |
