Does anyone have an idea what the differences between the two choke tubes? I have a friend (really, it is not me) who has one of each and has mic'ed them and they are identical constrictions. So if they are the same can you shoot either of the shells through either of the tubes? It is just marketing?

Yes you can shoot either shell trough the same tube . The early problem with Blackcloud shells was a nasty habit of splitting choke tubes due to design of the shot and a failure of thshooters to read the caution on the box that stated the shells should be used with a max restriction of improved choke . I believe the newer Blindside(can't wait to try some this year) will need the same caution .As I understand it the pattern is created by a new shot cup design and a choked tube is not needed with improved being the restriction again.

Blind side wads are just as nasty as the BC wads. I prefer BC. More then likely when I was shooting BS ammo I was having a bad day... Well I can asure you I was. and remember BS is coming out at 1400 VS 1450. so make sure you make that ajustment. As far as the chokes go, I've used Carlson BC chokes and I've used the Crio choke that came with my Vinci, and I prefer the Carlson BC extended range for Canada's and Snow's. But I use my crio IC for ducks.
