easiest one out there is hunter specialties mack daddy call, very simple and easy to use and the best part is, its hard to sound like a dominant bull with the call, which scares alot of ur big boys away. all the calls out there rock in thier own way everyone has thier favs. i use the mack daddy and primos calls. like i said, stay away from to agressive, ull scare more bulls away than u will call in. good luck man |

Thanks for help. I have been on a dozen elk hunts, but they have all been guided so I got really spoiled. Now it is time for me to man up and do it myself. Should be fun. Thanks Bruce |

I agree with hd I use the mac daddy, for one it's easy and still trying to get the diaphram down, and like the fact it sounds like a small bull, and like the cow sounds it makes. Most guys I ran into try to sound like a big bull, I just started hunting elk first hunt last year, but my thinking is why do you want to sound big and threatening, I'd rather sound smaller. Then again I'm not a trophy hunter just looking for meat, rack is just a bonus. |

I am going to be hunting on Pueblo Laguna rez in New Mexico ....first rifle hunt Sept 15, It is a little different than real high country hunts so I hope it is not too hot and hope they are bugling some. It will be interesting for a do it yourself hunt. Looking forward to the challenge. |

try a flexable gas hose about 18 inches long and roll it into a loop and it will be different from everyone else in the area. glass early and late look under every tree in the area you are in and that Elk will be sitting there shoot straight and have a great hunt. |
